I play CoD4 when I want chaotic infantry combat, FH2 when I want to do stuff more tactically and slowly, and Sandbox when I want to mess around, build something, or fly around and play music lol.

Agreed, which is why I play in short bursts.

What could be done to change this however?

I still have Garry's Mod to entertain me though. :p

Oh shut it. I don't have BF2CC anymore because it wont work for me. I shall talk to one of my admins to see if you get unbanned...blah. but ya. We are changing names here so you should get unbanned anyways.

its all due to one factor...map size. All the maps are ridiculously small... soo small that every decent shooting or sniping point on that map is known by every single player.. so taking point and executing kills is just not possible.. unlike bf2 and all the others.. in this one u just have to jump into the bloodbath and have the fastest reflexes.. making the maps bigger would make this games MP 100% better..

                and thinking.
Imo, that`s what a MP shooter should all be about.

Fast-paced gameplay is what got me really hooked tot COD4, but i agree, relaxation isn't really a part of playing this game, the comparison between COD4 and BF-series has been made, although i loved the BF series (that is 2 and 2142) the slow-paced gameplay did got me bored, especialy after playing for a period of months, COD4 came along and i never went back to BF, sure les relaxation and stuff, but the feeling of iminent action, wich is the core of the COD4 gameplay, is just great.

Well CoD4 certainly follows the Call of Duty series tradition of quick, fast-paced, CQC, type gameplay. And believe it or not, this game is actually a bit nicer compared to past CoD games that were actually pretty mean to those who liked slower gameplay, hence the barrage of Rifle/Sniper-only servers. This time you actually have sufficient cover and hiding spots in certain areas of the map, like Downpour or Overgrown or even Crossfire.

While it doesn't compare to games like BF2 or BF2142, it ultimately relies on your taste for gameplay.

Dunno why, but back in the CoD: UO days my fav map was actually Rhinevalley! The biggest map CoD has ever seen and with jeeps only CTF i could just play that all day long. It has the fast pace because of the jeeps, or the slow approach on foot and taking over the village or the hill.
Maybe i'll once re-install UO again and play GITS Rhinevalley again...oh, the nostalgia

Why was I always under the influence that games should be entertaining rather than relaxing?

You want a more relaxing pace? First off, thats not really IW's fault, since they cannot really tell people how to play. All they can do is design a decent game and hope that not too many people complain about it.

Try S&D on HC if you want relaxation, or perhaps Cage Matches. They're not as 'hectic' as other game modes. *cough* Domination *cough*

Or just tell everybody in the game before the match something like: "hey, let's take it easy this time 'round guys". I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige.

No, it's all due to people playing on 32 man servers. A lot of people, especially those complaining, are stuck in the mindset of having to play on a 32 man server or nothing at all. I love the maps sizes as is, I play on a 20 man server (with four private slots), not too crowded and not a ghost town.

It seems like you're looking for a more, laid back game. I love the game as is, and I would hate to have it change.

No, the reason the game is all run and gun is map size.. if the maps were bigger it would be a more strategic battle.. think about it logically.. if u half a football field whats going to happen? slaughter! if u half a cake at a table full of fat people what happens? slaughter.. so what do u thinks going to happen when u half the size of a battle ground occupied by trigger crazy gamers?:p

and BF2 is by no means a "laid back" game.. and its maps are HUGE!

Map size and number of players are related - any (reasonable) map can be too big or too small depending on the number of people on the server.

In the analogy above, if you halve a football field, but also halve the number of players on each team on the field, you still have a playable (but different) game.

The issue for many people is that they're still expecting these maps to support server sizes seen in other games. Whether or not COD4 should've been designed with larger maps for PC is another matter for discussion.

Yeah, lately its been too fast and crazy for me to play. Going back to BF2 was a nice, slow change. I only got a couple of kills, but it was still good =P
