COD 5 ? You be the judge

    Will Cod5 destroy Cod4 ?
    By ibleedv20 from cod4world.com

More than rumour has it that Treyarch will be releasing the next installment in the COD series in late 2008.What the impact on COD4 will be is a matter for serious discussion. With Treyarch's track record in the COD arena defined by the COD3 release it is debatable whether this release will an honorable addition or an ugly patch on the *** of a fine FPS.In my opinion, anything less than a stellar product could damage the focus of the COD comunity and cause dilution of commitment when the best is yet to come.Obviously dollars and cents are whats at work here and in a pure business sense Activision has to go where the profits are.But here is a warning to all committed Cod4 community members. If this game is as poorly created as COD3 do not become an advocate of it being a true addition to the series. We deserve the best product for the dollars we spend and should accept nothing less than the highest standards.

The increasing trend of porting console games over to PC is a trend that is unstoppable based on economics and the growing capabilities of the PS3 and Xbox360.So what can we PC gamers do to help ensure that we get a quality product and dont become dinosaurs in the gaming world? That is the million dollar question.Naturally the greatest force driving gaming companies is economics and in response your greatest power lies in your wallet.Dont buy a game that doesnt live up to your own expectations.Be an educated consumer willing to match your own personal investment with the quality of the games you buy.Are we PC gamers already doomed due to low PC unit sales when compared to console sales?I hope not.I would like to think that in every developers heart there remains a healthy respect for the deep hobby that PC gaming can be.While console gaming is improving it is light years away from PC gaming in terms of depth of craft.

This next installment will take us back to WWII and that is just fine with me.The Pacific campaigns were not explored and truly represent some of the best military history we could hope for.So lets keep our fingers crossed that by the end of next year we will have the problem of trying focus on two of the finest FPS games ever released.

Imo, even when CoD5 turns out like CoD3 or that one on the PS did, it won`t hurt the community. CoD3 didn`t, CoD2 didn`t (compared to CoD1, 2 was a dumbed-down port), I doubt this will.

Yeah, the two games are going to be very different. There are people that like WWII shooters and will go to CoD5. I know I will dowload the demo and try it out and see what I think, just like any other game.

The thing is that there are 17,000+ servers online that I can see right now. Assuming that a server is a "community", if half go away, which is rare unless the game really stinks, that leaves around 8,500 servers.

Thats more than 2142 ever had. (Going by memory, may not be entirely accurate)

If CoD5 turns out to be an awesome game and we get a lot of clan people going to it, we will probably just add it to our existing CoD server list and let the games begin.

There are two reports I dont pay a lot of attention to; 1. GREATEST EVER! 2. WORLD ENDING

      This one is world ending.

        COD5 destroying COD4?

Is the author of that smoking crack?

Infinity Ward = Excellent Game Studio
        Treyarch = Bottom-dwelling Amateurs.

        Peace.

If COD5 happens to turn out incredibly well, then it may pull some players away from COD4 (those who like/prefer the WWII setting). Other than that, reputation-wise, I doubt it will have any effect.

I'm looking forward to CoD5... not on the pretense of it being a uber-leet kewl MP FPS... like CoD4, but just that the Pacific Campaign was really left out of the whole WWII FPS rush that began a few years ago, and I would love to get some action in that area.

A lot of the Pacific campain was Naval (not the linty kind). I dont think it gets looked at as much because the maps would be close to the same for trees and islands. In Europe, you have such a huge choice of what will look like what.

Of course BF1942 did a pretty good job making things a bit different.

Not a chance. Each Call of Duty installment has its own sort of fan base that keeps it alive and well. Except for the CoD Finest Hour for the PS2. That was just horrible. But each one retains its own uniqueness combined with the CoD formula.

Activision is the publisher for the series, along with other games. They don't have much to do with the developing of the series.

True. But then again, the only way to get a ranked server in 2142 was to rent one from one of "EA's trusted server providers" for ridiculous amounts of money.

As long as it doesn't turn out to be like CoD3 I'm fine. It wasn't a that horrible game but it didn't feel much like a CoD game.

None of the CoD series games have really been bad, its just some outlive their stay a little too quickly. I'm hoping that the developers don't run the series into the ground by releasing game after game without any unique features. Thats the one thing about CoD5. It may not destroy CoD4, but the series' integrity might not be so lucky.

i realy dont think they will bring up cod5 in at leat 2 year. Because ther is no need for it cod4 is doing very good so they will keep it as backup game
