fire rate poll

If you're going to make a poll and want to be taken seriously, keep the options short and simple, yes/no/other would've worked just fine. But you had to go off and have two "yes" options, and one "other" option.
Don't get me wrong though, if they do this, fine, but I don't see the need for it.Comment

yes my poll was biased.
yes this function would be useless for sprayers
yes a fire rate button would be highly useful for players that use it properly.
yes on prop f (for fire rate button)

You do not say things such as this when I am logged into this forum, as someone said more people are playing CSS and CS 1.6 at this very moment then any other FPS on earth, it's the most skill based game I've ever played (more 1.6) than any other major FPS out there. :cussing:and why is the changing view of weapons, a bad thing in any way? counter strike stayed the same because people didn't like change, that game was terrible. the us political system has stayed the same because people don't like change, and how fair and balanced is that?
*snip*
*On topic*
I do see a point where single fire wouldn't be very useful, but it still makes a lot of sense, especially if they're trying to get a realism push.Comment

All this "such-and-such requires no skill" talk is elitist BS.You don't have to be skilled to do well in hardcore
Each game-mode or play-style requires skills - whether jumping, shooting accurately, pin-point nades, expert map knowledge, stealth/patience/cover, etc.
HC has a different skill-set than softcore. Neither is inferior to the other.

When were talking about skill, it depends heavily. What skill are we talking about? COD4 takes us straight down to business. Weapons are accurate, they are realiable and they are deadly as hell. So were taken right down to the PvP action, where wits have a lot more to say.
But CS, you need to learn a hell of a lot more about gunfigts and weapon use, aswell as grenade use and faking, to actually be ablt to start competing wit other players. If youve got the wits, its not enough to win in CS.
Im not saying COD4 is easier. Just saying that CS is more complex.Comment

that makes sense chris. i played that game since beta one (not retail) so i know it well. and it seems to me that the actual fire fights do not reward aiming skill, depending on the weapon you have. thats like in an mmorpg, +3 awp. as far as tactics go, the maps are pretty damn linier and theres not a whole lot of watching yer back in comparison to this game. (keep in mind that that was a relative comment) theres also the aspect of hiding amongst the terrain in this game that is not in cs. cs and tf2 are very similar in these respects. they both try to promote teamwork by making alot of the weapons mame not kill.Comment

No... *sigh*
The skill bases in CSS are mostly based on movement, recoil, aim, and when you get to certain competitive level, strats. I don't understand how you could say you know the game, if you also say that good aim is unrewarded.
Yes, there is no... hiding, because there never was meant to be, you can't even prone... Its just the type of game.
I also never meant a gameplay comparison between CoD4 and CS, I just stated that CS takes more skill and practice, because it does. I can go into CoD4 and do just fine in a pub on my very first day of playing, however CS... you just don't do that, you need to learn recoil patterns, and add much more precision. I still get owned in pubs when I'm having a bad day, and I've been playing for a good three or four years.
CS hardly promotes teamwork however... Theres something out there called an Ace, also Clutches come in handy sometimes also. But teamwork is a very good idea.Comment

CS is a completely different game than CoD4, so all comparisons are worthless. *Just throwing that out there
As for your comparison (Roger) about the US Political system and no change, you're obviously extremely ignorant - plain and simple. Comparing CoD4 to CS and the US political system has no relevance to "change".
I've been trying to think of a response to your argument, but I honestly can't find one - probably because you have made numerous "apples to oranges" comparisons that are in no way related to the original topic!
Grr my head hurts!Comment

I think you misunderstood me or Im misunderstanding you. Aiming skill is something you need a lot more in CS, than you need in COD4, that is, the raw and pure hand-eye coordination. But it doesnt stop there, in COD4, you use pretty much every gun in a similar fashion. I only use burst fire on AK47 long engagements or high recoil SMGs, thats where the major differences between weapons end. In CS, theres 3 main weapons you use (AK, M4 and SMG), which are fundamentally different from each other, then theres scopes, which are also different from each other. Theres a reason why youve got these specific "Scout" or "AK" maps, because the weapons need extensive training in order to get through their respective quirks and quarks.Originally posted by Roger Smiththat makes sense chris. i played that game since beta one (not retail) so i know it well. and it seems to me that the actual fire fights do not reward aiming skill, depending on the weapon you have. thats like in an mmorpg, +3 awp. as far as tactics go, the maps are pretty damn linier and theres not a whole lot of watching yer back in comparison to this game. In COD4, this is pretty much irrelevant. And Im a "down to drawing board and experiment" kind of guy, who goes and spends hours figuring out what certain things do. In COD4, you need to practice 2 things, for pub play- pixel throws with grenades, pixel throws with GL. Unless you want to go out and practice dragshots with the sniper rifle.
Two fundamentally different games.
COD4- get to know the maps and youre ready to play PvP
CS- get to know the guns, then maps, beef yourself up as youre starting low in a community of skilled players (CS1.6), and then you can start playing PvP
In the same time, COD4 = battle of wits, CS = battle of hand-eye coordination (or raw skill, whatever you want to use).
As for the topic, dont need single shot, tapping works wonders. SH in games like BF2 is added because as a tradeoff from full auto, it gives extra accuracy (unless I misread in game files). COD4 weapons are already pretty much laser accurate. So this wouldnt serve any purpose. Want semi auto? Get G3, add a macro for full auto, and youre at go, own at your will.Comment
