A processor upgrade is only necessary if you are running single core... Any mainstream Dual Core should work fine.

I run with everything maxed out, AA to 8x. Normally I get around 80 FPS, when FRAPSing I get around 60.

Don't worry though, I feel your pain. Before my computer upgrades I got 25 FPS on all low settings, and when FRAPSing I got 10-15... Movie making was hell.

i have a newer Pc now, but at the time i was running everything mostly medium with view distance at 100%. I think i might have had a couple of the lighting settings at low. I also had 2 gigs of ram and had zero background programs running.

When recording i think it might have dipped into the 30-40 FPs range with a FRAPs setting of 55-60. I know it sounds strange but raising the framerate in Fraps will help smooth out gameplay while recording.

dude i get 50fps on most conquest servers. cant really even play heavily populated titan. Ill get est. 60-70fps when im on some CampG server with 20 people.

get 90 fps on any server except titan. and when i record its 30 because of the maximum speed of my hd.

hmm so the fraps fps setting works a bit like Vsync... interesting

Here is what helped me:
1: $200 Worth of RAM
2: $50 PSU
3: $300 8800GT


Sorry to say mate, but FRAPs is an EXTREMELY demanding program. The only way to boost performance is to boost your computer.

$550 for a GTS? You mean GTX right? I wouldn't pay any more than $400 for a Superclocked GTS...

wow so if you get 120 with out fraps and i get 15 FPS without anything but the game and TS running. o and to the kid that put this post up first bro you have not seen in game lag till you play on the comp i had lol

forget fraps, just camcorder your monitor!

actually, i've seen someone output video through S-video and then feed it to his camcorder and record it. that's the way to record gameplay w/o your game's framerates taking a hit.
