Actually, everything in the 30 kilometer area is radioactive to an extent. But soil is easily contaminated, and it is highly dangerous to simply stand on it.

Different materials absorb and hold radioactive particles at different rates. During that mission, you hear McM warn Price that certain areas are more radioactive than others, and to avoid them.

Low-levels of rads can be countered with certain anti-rad drugs for short periods of time. It's not a huge leap of faith to say that spec forces would have such meds, as well as rad meters to help them avoid highly contaminated areas.

It's plausible enough for me.

Ever play the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? If you didn't have anti-rad drugs available, you could counter the effects of radiation for a short time by drinking a bottle of vodka. :laugh: They did it really well IMO, because the more vodka you drank at once, the more "drunk effects" you would have (vision would blur, you'd move slower, world would "tilt", etc). You'd be safe from radiation, but utterly hammered for a bit.

Simply playing the two missions in Call of Duty: 4 gives me nightmares, hehe. I find the place eerie, yet surreal and mystical. There is just something about it that amazes me.

Its quite awkward though, standing next to the Hind trying to distinguish whether or not it is an Mi-24RKR (can collect radiation, biological and chemical samples, not your ordinary Hind) and having the dosimeter clicking, shows that aviation is not immune to radiation. :p

You just reminded me about the most radioactive part of the game. I absolutely hated it. :p

It's not a game! It's not a game... It's reality with spawn points Like the Discovery Channel.

Although I hate that level, I absolutly dispise it. The last level is a piece of urine compared to that one. I can do it all fine but that bit where you escape from the building and get ambushed on the road... It makes me cry lol I ended up having to lower the difficulty to regular *hangs head in shame*. I find that one little bit impossible. Tips on the back of a post card please.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was the best singleplayer game of 2007, in my honest opinion. I must've lost myself in that world and completed the game over a dozen times in slightly different scenarios/situations.

I can't wait for Clear Sky (the sequel, coming out very soon)...

The only game I can think of that could possibly dethrone it is Fallout 3.
