I don't have my sound turned up loud; Its just at a normal listening level. I do think that my Sound Blaster X-Fi + Logitech headphones combination is like hax, though. I can hear everything going on. The headphones give me positional auditory information.

Since I got my new 'puter a few months ago, gaming has changed radically for me. I had been gaming on a non-gaming computer, so now that I've got a decent gfx card and sound card, things are so much more fun!

I'm telling you, Dead Silence does not mean "no sound" in CoD4 ... it means "much more quiet sounds" but I can still hear you walking around. :drevil:

There's only like 4-8 people on normally; not a whole lot of noise there.

Just "boom-boom" and "shick-shick" as Sogeking runs around shotgunning and stabbing everyone! How? He hears 'em like I do. Ask him.

I tend to only get owned when I'm not using my headphones or the server is set to Hard Core because I can't tell if it is friend or enemy without the minimap. :cry:
