I play primarily play mid-size conquest servers, where you have a good % of snipers in the mix. I would die alot more if I had light armor. Can't tell you how many times my health goes down to 21 pts with the one shot snipage. And I can certainly tell when I plow through a light-armored opponent, cuz my voss cuts him like butter.

Sorry to digress. Base sniper rifles. Zeller has some cool stuff, but reloading periods really cut down on opportunities, as well as ability to get that 2nd shot kill.

Sorry to continue the digression, but with light armour your health would go down to 10. Either way, you're badly injured, but still alive and still have an opportunity to get to cover or return fire.

21 for base rifles. 10? That's if they were using a zeller... correct?

Mhm no 1 shot from zeller in light armour and you are dead.

Incorrect. This is only true if the hit is above roughly the collarbone. Try it yourself sometime.

1 Zeller hit does 90 base damage to the torso. Heavy armour mitigates 20% of this (18) for a damage of 72. 100 - 72 leaves you with 28 health. (edit: I suck at maths)

Light armour does not mitigate any of the damage, and the base value of 90 is applied, leaving you with 10 health.

Sorry, my comment was in the context of your statement that you would die a lot more often in light armour. While this might be true with certain styles of play, it's a good bet that snipers wouldn't contribute a lot to the additional deaths - it still takes 2 torso shots to kill you, regardless of the rifle used and regardless of your armour. Headshots kill regardless of these factors, and the only difference is that in light armour you have a small box at the very top of your torso that is one hit kill to the Zeller's round type only.

              I thought you quit playing?

As for the rifles, the stock rifles are better for every day use, if you like messing around and exploding people's munitions in their face, use the zeller. Getting headshots is not always practical (people rushing/jumping crossing across your vision), so the larger magazine of the stocks are a fragsaver.
