 I love doing that too. Just spend a whole round with your pistol.

There is of course a line between using everything in the game to full effect and gaming the system. I will dolphin dive and jump around corners, but the types who would use prone jumping as their primary form of movement annoy me.

People say it's not realistic. It's not meant to be. It's a game, not a simulation. It CAN be played as one, but if that's how you want to play, you find other like minded folks and game on.

Which style of play do you use?

The stand still while shooting, slow, no movement, tactical ... >.< style of play?

Or the run, jump, (backflip), shoot, dolphin dive... Spastic Movements (Lol) etc.

My Opinion: I'm number two for sure... Don't see why I shouldn't do any of those, if I wasn't supposed to, they would take it out of the game. I also like good reflexes... (Spastic Movements XD)

Add your own style if you wish. =)
Leave it to you to get the tactical play style wrong just to get more people on your side.

I'm like a shark most of the time, swimming through the map with Juggernaut and Extreme Conditioning. I play aggressively and move like a hedgehog on Redbull. So, I'm thinking that a lot of folks will be upset with me.

Hey, if we are having a shooting contest, that's cool. But, if I'm playing to win, I'm going to be duckin' and weavin' like I'm knitting a new snood for the epeen.

Somebody like you has always come on the top 3 of a FFA during a server I was playing on. Wasn't even hardcore. :p

Just because you can do a thing, doesn't mean you should do that thing. And game-makers aren't stupid enough to limit their customers by putting in ways to prevent certain styles of play.

Like others, I prefer a more realistic (not "realism mod" necessarily) style of play, with my character doing things/tactics that actual soldiers might use.

The spastic, jumping/diving, UT/Quake-style stuff irritates me to no end...from what you wrote, I would not want to play with you.

In sci-fi games (UT), fine - they've always been played that way, and it's expected. But in FPS games that try to mimic the atmosphere of "real life" and modern war, I find it really ruins the feel.

Despite what some of the spastic players think, their success is not only due to skill/reflexes...many of us choose not to play that way, because we don't enjoy it and don't think it's right, putting us at a disadvantage sometimes.

Now, everyone (should have) paid for the game, so they should enjoy it. But some of the spastic players should realize that what they do really undermines the enjoyment of other people, which will make those people less willing to play with them in the future. And without opponents, there is no game.

It's almost like there should be specific servers for that kind of play, so those folks can play together and have fun, without ticking off the rest of us.

Totally respect your opinion Whiskey, and I know what you mean. I just don't think CoD4 has very much realism in the first place...(Not talking graphics) I really think BF2:PR did the best job with that, and if thats the kinda mood I'm in, then I'll play that.

I'm not doing anything cheap to get kills... those are exploits, and what I'm doing is hardly an exploit or a cheat.

From the little amount of competitive CoD2 I played, this is how I learned to play, lots of movement, jumping to dodge shots, taking shots while in mid-air... Etc. Lots of rifles. :P

Except with CoD4 we just happen to have nicer guns. =)

I'm not going to play any other type, because I just don't really know how to, or why I would... Because it works.

@Spiked - Well go on... tell us what it is... contribute.

I can't summarize it because it is so dynamic that every last sound affects it.

I guess, if I had to explain it, it would be smart movement. Where you think there aren't, or know there aren't, any enemies, you'd walk or run. Where there's a possibility, you crouch, lean, move along walls, and move from cover to cover. Where you know there are hostiles, you throw a grenade in before entering, lean before entering, lean around the wall/doorway while scanning the opposite wall, ready to fire.

There's more to it than that, but that's basically it.

I'm not always spastic, just when I'm having fun.

If a serious game is what is called for, I can bring that, too. I've been an infantryman IRL and I'm looking for fun when I'm in-game rather than a simulation.

I can adapt though and tend to play as others do. However, if I get P90 bum-rushed and shiv'd while I'm 'hiding' and 'tactical', I'm breaking out the Redbull and rushing 'em. :salute:

                        Haha, love the first part...

Yea, well buddy, I do all that stuff too, just depends on the situation... And no army I know that is trained in CQB tactics leans arounds doorways before entering... the motto is Fast and Furious...

I'm going with Spik3d on this one, I play more cautious, running when I'm certain **** isn't going to happen, I throw stun nades in areas, I crouch, and lean places..that sort of stuff.

I never said those were army tactics.

You also said you wanted the game to be more "realistic" and fun for everyone...

My point is that the game isn't realistic, so i won't argue against my own point. :P

I play the game for what it is... a game, if you want a military simulation go play ArmA, or BF2:PR. Its not an insult, its a suggestion... the CoD series was never ever a slow methodical game, its always extremely fast, and requires quick movement.

Any scrim I ever played in in CoD2, involved tons of jumping, movement, and quick thinking, so I obviously will carry on that style to CoD4...

You can play that way if you want... its fine with me, but I won't change.

Again, that's where maybe you should think about who you are playing with...scrims may attract the same sort of "win by any (legal) means necessary"-type players. And if everyone has that mindset, that's cool, and you'll all have a good time.

But just be aware that when you play against non-competitive or casual players (which are the vast majority, btw), your tactics will more often than not irritate other players and they will not want to play with you again.
