Trouble finding enemy jets...

I seriously doubt Im teaching him to spawn rape. Attacking the PLA airfield, which is a cappable base, isnt even close to spawn raping. The comment I made about an average player in a J10 can take out an experienced player in an F35 is a general comment. There are exceptions. I have been up against some very good F35 pilots and have had the dardest time with them....but for the most part...they allways go down with my missles.Comment

Id go through it in details, but then again, Ive done so a billion times, and every week theres someone like you calling people out asking the same question. Some interesting ideas, and some asinine comments, but no one has actually shared any insight into what the advantages and disadvantages of a joystick are.
Search.
:laugh:People talking aload of crap, have these joystick companys paid you all off or summat. Frig me, its a joystick not a magic wand. I play just as good if not better than a joystick user.
You dont need a joystick for squat! its just another little addon to your computer.
Tell you what we will put your theory to the test, 2moro, choose a server & a time add my xfire. This is an open challenge to any joystick user. Me Vs them, Mouse Vs Joystick, we'll put this to rest once and for all.
You have got to be kidding me.
But hey, if you can play as good as this guy

then we can talk.Comment

Im just saying, I know that this is not a increadably realistic game, but they use joysticks in real life :PComment

You are obviously wrong. They use mice and keyboards. In the WW2, they used keyboards only. Then, in the Gulf War, Americans started using Logitech sticks and Iraqis started complaining to the admins. The whole server was filled with noob cries about "Americans using noob tools that are unfair".Originally posted by TopGunIm just saying, I know that this is not a increadably realistic game, but they use joysticks in real life :PComment

I really did not mean any offense. I tend to be a highly emotional person, but I try to apply a humorous aspect to my observations. I tried to attack the issue with logic and wit, but obviously I have failed. Honestly I had a really bad day, and I tried to acknowledge that in the end of my post. I have nothing but respect for those that know their way around the 'field, but some people can really hurt other's feelings weather either party is willing to admit it. I'm just being over-sensitive. I just wish others would consider the feelings of those they are affecting before they attack or make potentially hurtful statements. Sh¡t I need to relax a while. Sorry all.Comment

Ok thanks for the feedback so far (and to all your people debating please quit it im looking for flying tips) I already have a logitech extreme 3d pro and love it... dont care to argue which method of flight is better...
As for the earlier posts regarding doing some research - ive spent this whole week everyday reading endless threads/wiki's that teach you flying techniques and ive learnt a great deal from them and when im chasing a jet more often than not i pwn it...
Thats not an issue... what is an issue (as stated in my op) is i cant get myself into positions for the chase instead im being chased but i think a good tip that i didnt really do was to fly at 300-500ft i normally fly lower than that, perhaps thats where my problem lies i have been doing everything else already stated like flying in bomb mode/checking views etc...
I will be sure to try flying higher tomorrow and let you all know how i go, in the meantime more general flying tips would be great... Also i find that sometimes i can be chasing and the enemy jet will pull away up around and below/behind me what is the best way to stay on their tail without losing sight of them - they always end up in my blind spots far below/above me...Comment

Fire up singleplayer, choose Operation Clean sweep with bots, go onto MEC side, take the bomber and chase the US plane for a while. It will teach you to stick behind another plane well. Learn to align the primary gun and not use air to air rockets.
That's how i learnt.
And, if out manoeuvring an enemy jet, i do it in the rear view so i can keep an eye of them and guide myself across the map using the minimap.Comment

Allright, this is what I usually use. I fly at about 500 feet, away from enemy jets bombing routes (bombing routes being the imaginary trajectories the enemy jet uses from their target flags, to the rearming station, to back to target), I have my eyes peeled on the minimap (fly MEDIC), whenever I see a group of medic markers (people you can revive start blinking as icons on the minimap), I know the enemy jet just passed that target area. Now, I can cut him off while hes going back to repairs (most players are right handed, so they tend to turn left), or I can catch him while hes returning to his target area.Ok thanks for the feedback so far (and to all your people debating please quit it im looking for flying tips) I already have a logitech extreme 3d pro and love it... dont care to argue which method of flight is better...

Second method. Mouselook. I fly on the side of the map, at about 500 feet, turn my jet 90 degrees to the side where the battle is, and use mouselook to view around. Due to me being in a 90 degree roll, I can look anything and anywhere on the bottom, sides and up.
Third method, I ghost my stupid teammates. If I have someone flying around, and they are easy targets, I follow them via minimap, from a safe distance.
4th, which is the harderst, but really the simpliest. I play the bait. If Im confident in my skills, I fly to get him behind me, then I outmaneuver him, and shoot him down. I use this the most as most pilots arent good, and when Im doing OK, and again, have confidence in my skills I use this.
The simpliest advice to you is, fly on the edges of your fliable map, look out for spotted targets, fly at high altitude, use mouselook. If youre a medic, pay attention to medic markers and kill messages.Comment

yoohoo313131, same thing that I do. I don't waste time on F35 that goes stratorun. I forget about it and get extra kills bombing, killing heli or whatever. That's usually 2+ tickets for my team
Don't kid yourself . I could "keep it simple" by flying with my feet. Actually, I'd still probably beat you
To summarise the Joystick vs Mouse debate, here's a little graph I just made comparing the 2 variables:

First of all, dont fly in cockpit mode, press F9 and you should be in a non-cockpit mode which gives you alot more visibility and stuff, now, the reason you can't spot jets is because your not looking hard enough, a jet might be flying low it might blend in with the ground, what to do is, get to 600 ft, get slow, flip on air to air missiles for a good 3-4 seconds while scanning around, if you pick anything up, get back into bomb mode and follow it, once its flying straight, get back in AA and just lock onto him, this should cause him to drop his flares, get back into bomb mode and follow him until he thinks all is clear and goes back to going straight, then when your right behind him, get into AA and start locking on, theres nothing he can do now.
:)
Its what I doComment
