    I have quick Q about APM's

Hi, as a reacon soldier i usually deploy APM's at strategic places. I was just wondering if there was a way of placing APM's so they can be more successful in killing?? Some ppl might think this is a stupid question but if there is a way so APM are more effective i would like to know.

    Thx, wardog.:salute:

Several actually... Don't place them out where people can see them is a first tip. Place them around corners, but do it smartly. In other words:

Blue is Correct placement, Grey is NOT. Place it so they can't see it before they turn the corner and get their heads blown off.

DON'T place it at the top of a ladder. It doesn't do anything.

Place them where no-one will see them for starters, behind the walls in the titan corridors works well. Never place them at the very entrance because most people will crouch when going into the corridor. Likewise when placing them in the vents.

If you want to place it at the top of a ladder, do so behind it facing wherever the person climbing it gets off.

Well if you have the strategic places bit down you should be doing pretty well. Make sure they are places that are commonly used by the enemy, tight areas to make it harder for the enemy to maneuver around your APMs, perhaps try and put in them in places the enemy can't see them like behind crates or walls.

Some people also suggest covering them up with ammo and med hubs but I've never found that necessary.

Not so much of a bad idea though. When I see an APM and it's backwards, I come to think it has been laid by a friendly (the red marker doesnt work on all APMs...)... So I don't mind them. If it has been laid by the enemy, I will blow up when running over it.

the problem still with apms is that the ones dropped by the enemy will still show as friendly so when you think you can walk past em they blow up

I have seen noobs who place the APMs against walls... Backwards. Like this:

                  | <APM Facing this way
                  |
                  ^ Wall

People laugh when they see on the APM "This side toward enemy" and yet you still see idiots who place "This Side" toward a stinking wall :|:

Place them in well-traveled areas. Kind of an obvious one but I didn't see it mentioned

When I play, especially on Cerbere as Recon, I am *HATED*.

I have my favorite places, and are *GUARANTEES* me an explosive pin in a round. (as long as support resupplies me).

The central office area (opposite church), at the top of the stairs (Both stairs), and the stairs taking you up to the flag at Command.

I love it when a troop is sneaking past an ABM, and one of his buddies runs past, killing them both

Then when APM are not forthcoming from Support, I turn to mining the stairs with RDX, and taking out entire squads.

i love taking out the sniper who placed the mine if theres no other way(like in a knife fight and be about to lose your tags). then i run over the mine and take out the enemie sniper(+1 point killing me - 2 points for suicide))

Ok thanks for all the responses, but maybe I wasent precise enough. I know placing APM in corners will be alot more effective then if they were to be seen. ( I aint that dumb)
Like Fingulfin just showed us in his superb MS paint exemple hehe. But the true meaning of my post was if there was actually a front and rear for APM. looks like yes there is since someguy posted " I still see n00bs placing apm's backwards...." So We all agree APM have this kinda form )
I am guessing that this part is the back -> ) <--- and this the front thats would be logical since the explosion in real life like would spread hundred of little metal pieces killing the NME. Correct me if I am wrong. And I should of been more precise... MY bad.
                          Thx again wardogHk

                            Yup mate thats correct :p

Tha larger side of the APM is the way it is pointing.

you should just bunny hop around and throw your APMs at people, thats what most recon players do while using explosives playing on an infantry map.
