I would really love a new 2142 style game - with destructible environments and better graphics + tweaks and new guns/vehicles it would be the awesomeness

Even tho I'm Brigadier General in 2142 and I've played it for a total of over 13 days I still gasp at how great BF2142 really is every time I play - no other game comes close (except for TMU but it is in a class of it's own)

Screw the modern combat lovers I want a new 2142 :yay:

      definately if its done properly

I mean I want BF3 to be modern day, after what happened to bf2

but I would still love another 2142, more maps, more vehicles, more weapons, a better engine and less bugs

2142 worked far better than bf2 ever did in terms of gameplay and reliability

I doubt it very much that there will be. After all, they are trying to maximize profits and after the reception that 2142 got from alot of BF2 fans I doubt that they will want to go down that route again.

BF3 will be set in the mordern era simply to appeal to the Bf2 players.

I thought they got beat because the PAC used a diversionary attack? The EU make a comeback in Northern Strike, funnily enough it all plays out the same way as WW2, or one of those Rocky fights.

Well there isn't really a winner yet really? We're playing out the war. The booster is just another front for the war I think.
That could be an idea for the next game, a sequel to 2142 where the war has progressed. Battlefield 2142 2 wouldn't sound to good and having a sequel that involves the war progressing wouldn't really have the name 2142 anymore.. Well I suppose if they kept the 2142 just for the year that some of the maps might be played in and it is the year the war started kind of..
Battlefield 2142 - The Coldest Winter, or Battlefield 2142 - Frostbite (also include the name for the new game engine? :p) are two names that come to mind when I was thinking of a little sequel, sounds more like a booster or a mod though.

Also we could use new vehicles such as fighters... 2142 gunships are acutally futuristic helicopters (russian soldiers in the game call them helis)Also bombers would be nice. With anti-gravity engines like Nekomata, light walkers to support heavy classes like T-39 and L-5, ANTI-AIR VEHICLES that 2142 doesn't have
Well..this van go on and on..all I hope is that wonderfull universe of 2142 will return to us. And yes..EA has made brilliand futursctic but not space game. I never thought it would be fun to play game set in 22 century on Earth:salute:

Oh and we sould have 22nd century state of the ark skyscrapers and saved classical buildings from XVI to XIX century. 2142 Skyscrapers could have looked a bit more futuriscit cuz Ilive in exact copy of Belgrad house. The one with black balconies
Oh, I dunno, I find the lag with 2 titans is enough for me.

Well the story would have that the PAC have been halted in the Med and now the EU is making incursions back into Europe - hence Bavaria, Leipzig and Remagen. Given that this is how far they got one would assume France, Spain and Italy were 'liberated'.

I'd like to see the game go to a more lush environment - the EU send a task force around to East Asia to en-circle the PAC with fighting taking place in China, Burma and India, etc.

What bugs me is they got thirty people working on BF Heroes and only one was apparently working on 1.40. With 30 odd people they could have pushed out another booster pack, which I'd be totally fine with. I hope Heroes fails -cartoony graphics... BAH! Hate TF2.

I think that's another thing that makes it work so well.
The EU forces use weapons and vehicles that are more traditional, more powerful, but bulky and slow. While PAC's weapons are more cutting edge, quick and sleek, but weaker. They don't have the same punch.

The legendary, Brute force -vs- Speed and precision.

                  2142 has nailed it perfectly.

i think they won't go back to the 2142 universe. 2142 has been one of the more badly received of the BF games in addition to being their shoddiest work, i would think they want to move on and forget about this bastard child game of BF series.

                        Minmaster,

I don't get you, you have played this game extensively, your stats are on full view for everyone to see. If you thought it shoddy why in the name of Jupiters ball sack have you played this game for that long?! I've played about 200 hours and already I feel as if I've played it a long time, which I obviously haven't in comparison to other people (you've played it for WELL over 1000 hours). BF 2142 is admittedly one of the best shooters I've played and its one of my regrets about going abroad now because I can't play it for a number of months.

You're just in denial, you love it really. To be fair though, I think after 1000 hours I'd be dead bored of it aswell.

Although I'd like them to go back to the 2142 universe, they probably won't, at least not in the near future. Battlefield 3 may be in the works, and after the reception 2142 got, they probably won't go back to that time frame.

It is possible however that after making BF3 they would have no choice but to go back to BF2142. Lets face it, who would want a BF4, complete with the same old Arabs vs. Americans vs. Asians ****.

What I like about the futuristic setting is the developers can put things in that are fundamentally fun/useful and it doesn't have to make sense. In a modern setting, the devs can't really put those things cus it'll stick out and seem weird.

For example, having a NetBAT system in a modern shooter would seem weird, I don't think that kind of stuff exists today. But it's incredibly useful and encourages teamwork (eg. you can spot an enemy and your team mate will take him out). I've had some very useful moments with the EMP grenade with a Recon friend. Titan mode is nifty because it requires good teamwork (eg. some people have to defend, some have to keep silos, some have to attack... the weights for each have to be adjusted depending on the situation), the main problem with titan is stability (runs like @#$@ if the titans can move, buggy wall glitches, nade spamming could be fixed by adjusting titan architecture/game rules, no global VoIP so it's difficult to inform your team the titan needs more defenders (chat text just doesn't cut it!) and so on).
Defibs just wouldn't make sense in a modern shooter... you got blown up by a grenade and you're brought back to life with a little jolt? C'mon... But it's useful and makes the game mroe fun because if you have a good friend, you won't have to wait 15 seconds and don't have to find your way back into battle.

Plus, I still think Walkers are #$@#ing awesome.

Actually a lot of stuff doesn't really make logical sense even in the 2142 world. Why no bombers or artillery. How could a low-flying slow-moving titan ever make any sort of military sense. And a walker? Never. All the fixed gun emplacements have a limited field of fire - stupid. We could go on and on about things that stick out and seem weird in the 2142 world.

It's all about the game play well - and I think EA/Dice have succeeded there. This is the most balanced and fun-to-play game in the BF series (I would rate BF2 Special Forces a close second).
