Is 1.40 the last patch for BF2142?

Presumably by doing something like this, it won't then allow you to alter your kit settings and change the kit defaults from within the actual game? When changing default kit settings, would that have to be done to the file, before then making it read-only again?

the only problem is that in that file is your stats. so if you make it read only it wont let you get any stats on that pc.(or not be able to see your stats rise)

Anyone here getting more CTDs thanks to 1.40? I am. Yesterday i crashed to desktop in the middle of rounds about 6 times. Once every 3 or 4 rounds. It's really annoying. This wasn't an issue when i was running 1.25

Yeah, 1.40 doesn't seem to be as stable as 1.25 was. The Tampa maps seem to crash more than the others too.

It would be a shame is this was really the last patch. Leaving the game so unstable won't make DICE look good.

I just saw that statement, EA no longer supports the game. They have given up and have moved on. It looks like they cut their loses and killed the game themselves by releasing faulty patches.

Bf2 is older yet they still support that one, I think, unlike Bf2142 which is newer now tossed aside.

It is all about the money, which I am guessing was not big enough for their bank accounts. They tried to put bandaides on the game but the patient died in the process.

I still enjoy playing the game, it's too bad EA has given up on bf2142.

Crashing to desktop should be added to the very extensively long list of bugs after the new, now last, 1.40 patch and don't forget to mention the increasingly frequent loss of connection experienced during game play.

I agree. This game is fun and addictive, if DICE knew how to fix problems and gave a damn about putting out a game that works properly, this game would be more popular.

I haven't had a single crash in 1.40, I had loads of them in 1.25 :p

BF2142 should have been better made. I hope they make a BF2142 v2 after BF3 :)

DICE is probably working on Mirror's Edge and BF:BC now, no time fro BF2/2142 anymore I suppose.

I can only hope I'm wrong. I read something about it but I don't remember which one. There are so many, it's hard to sort through all of them to find the official version.

If anyone has found that article, link it back here for everyone. The closest article I could find was the one that said it was probably the last patch.

Here are some that mention it. Some are just referring to the final version of the 1.40 patch, not the last patch, which is the one is the one we are looking for. Some are raising questions about the 1.40 patch. That's probably where the confusion is coming from. Alot of the discussion refers to EA as undecided or probably the last patch.

If EA ever makes another patch for BF2142 I would be happily wrong.

Ever wondered why that is? A lot of ppl disappeared, a lot of servers disappeared, few servers = more ppl on the servers that are there.

As of 5:42am eastern time (which is obviously not the peak of gaming activity), there's 2815 people playing BF2142. I'm sure that level raises a few thousand later in the day, so that's not really that bad.

there should be 1 last patch to fix the custom kit saving bug, EU transport bug, stability problems, and to give us a new map or two to keep us happy and quiet until BF3 comes out later this year. 1.40 has been one of the more buggy patches we got so they shouldn't leave it like this. but then this is DICE/EA...

I think thats it on the patches. It took them a very long time to get 1.4 out and I think there was a reason, to get it right so there were no more patches.

Not saying they got it right, but that was the told reason.

2142 FTW!

I don't think CoD4 is a spawn camp fest...but it is not nearly as fun as Battlefield 2142. I've put about 24 hours on CoD4, so I'm not exactly a newbie to it....but I continue to return to 2142. CoD4 get boring after about an hour. Spawn.....live for 10 seconds.....die....respawn. I'm not the best FPS player in the world but I'm also fairly decent....and depending on the map, you are lucky to live for more than 10 seconds. Also, seems like there may be a significant of cheats. Just see guys map after map and game after game that are doing things that NO ONE else on the game is doing. Good? Possibly. Cheating? Probably.

At any rate. The only thing that will get me away from 2142 is BF3!!!

EDIT....one other thing. I saw it posted somewhere around here lately that on a particular day that there were 230+ servers currently up and running 2142 and nearly 10,000 running CoD4. The poster was using this to show how much more popular CoD4 is than 2142. However, if you ever check out the CoD4 servers you'll notice that of the 9000 to 10000 that are up and running at any time that a solid 7000 are complelely empty and a good 1000-1500 others have only 1 or 2 players. Sure, CoD4 is probably more popular than 2142....but it's also MORE than a year newer. However, at any one time there are probably only 200 or so servers that have games that anyone actually wants to join. Within a year this number will probably be around 50.
