ok idk why but im getting pretty ****ing sick of people with 150-250 ping in servers.

every server that i join that has low ping for me has people 90% of people with ping at 150-250. thats just pathedic and im getting sick of playing against people with high ping when me and a couple of teammates have decent ping.

What is your point exactly? I mean you do realize that no matter what negative effect you might be experiencing it's still much worse for the higher ping player.

One thing I have noticed though is that many lpbs get pissed when an hpb kills them because they can't believe someone with more of a disadvantage might actually be better than them. If it happens often enough (the kills, that is), that's usually when I notice lpbs whining to get the hpb kicked. But of course I'm sure you're not one of those whiners now are you?

Not to mention that the 1.4 patch enforces the "fair play" thingy about ping and attempts to level the playing field. MANY people have pings in the 100 - 200 range and cannot find servers any better.

We cap our server at 240 and everyone seems to have fun.

That is an EXCELLENT point. Last night our servers were showing me a ping of 346. I connected, 60.

MAN, I wish they would fix the browser. Its the biggest flaw in the entire game (My opinion others would disagree I am sure).

I feel bad that I'm always one of the higher pings in servers, but I have no choice. I am US Mil stationed in Turkey and it's hard to find a lot (if any) of servers in my area. It sucks to have people with high ping I imagine, but put yourself in my shoes; it sucks for me that I'm lagging all over the place and I can't help it...

ahh i didnt know there was problems with showing the right pings.

i know some games show pings differently. like i usally get 30 latency, 35 ping in css on my clan server thats located in VA but when i join a server located closer to me in cod4 its around 60-70.

It does get quite annoying when I have a 40 ping and someone has a 300 ping lol...There are only some servers I see that have restrictions.

yeah even though the people with the high ping have it worse it still not good for us cuase their upload speed is what they put out

so even though im updating say 50ms and they are 250ms that means ill have to compinsated for where they are and their choke.

i wont be surprised that 80% of people have P2P software running in the background hogging up their pipelines making them have LOTS of choke and loss making it EVEN harder to shoot them.

i should take a screen shoot of some of the servers that i play in. theres only like hmmmmmmm 5-9 people out of a 50 slot server with 90 or below ping. the rest of them are 150-300.


also just thinking about this. online games need good down and up speeds but allot of it is all about up speed. if you can do 512Kbps down or up your set but if you can do only 125kbps up then theres a dilema


Think of it this way. that person with 512k down and 128k up. with a ping of ehh 150. playing on a dedicated server with someone with 3.5mbps down and 1.5mb up and a ping of ehh 50. the player with the bad up and down will be able to see the person with good up and down very well cause their down is enough for the game. most games dont need that much down speed. so when they are playing with bunches of people with good upload they can see you and react good.

but on the other hand their upload is very crapy that means that they will be updating on my screen VERY BAILLY being that they are not being able to send enough packets to the server fast enough.

so really people with crapy ping can probably do as good or better than people with good ping.

thing is on 90% of servers it makes no difference because there is so much nade spam...

i have played on a few servers with 190-200 ish ping and i can tell you it was a real pain to even maintain 1:1 kdr againts 150ers and people with 90 ping

i see what your saying about upload speed but in my experience at 90 ping i can get 4:1 plus against people with 150+ so im not sure about that totally

Unless the player is suffering from severe packet loss, you will not see them warp around, and shooting directly at them would result in a kill, if you have a good ping, and they have... say 300. Youre at absolutely NO disadvantage. They are at a severe disadvantage. You dont have to lead, they have to lead a whole 1/3 seconds worth.

Ive been playing with higher ping during several years. People who yell at high pingers for having a high ping, have usually proven themselves to have no clue. And they whine even harder when the high pinger, through some miracle, manages to kill the low pinger. What happens next is painful to watch...

You can't go by the ping displayed. To get a true ping to a COD 4 server, you should ping it from the command prompt.

My ping on my COD 4 servers show about double my true ping. I ping around 20 - 25 to my dedicated box in Virginia and that's my ping in my 2142 server, but when I join COD 4 on the same box, I get 40 - 50+ ping. I do not believe for one second that this is what my ping really is in-game.

Dude, you do realize that a 100-175 ping is not bad at all? I connect to servers in the San Diego area, and get a 150 ping some times, and no one has problems.

Ever since the patch screwed up the pings for me, all I do is look for server names that have something like .co.uk or .de or .eu in them, because I suaully get between 20-60 on European ones.

ive noticed that sometimes. sometimes when the programs spikes when connecting to the master server, you will have abnormally high pings, i usually fix it by either joining anyways, or relaunching cod4
