Seen a few thread recentlly regarding setting the mouse scroll wheel for full auto g3 usage and a mention of scripts to emulate this... so experimented intially by setting the mouse wheel up... hated it, like my LMB as fire simple as... so had a look about for a script to do something similer, and found a little golden nugget.
Its called Mr Nickles fast fire script. Rather than letting the guns go full auto, it allows a set up to switch to pre determined burst modes - 1 / 3 / 5 / 8 / 15 and 20 shots.
Found 1 - 5 shots useful for certain weapons above that unneccesary IMHO.
Gives you the option as you had in CoD and CodUO of switching weapon between semi auto and burst(well full auto in original cod).
Was thinking that this initially would be a bit cheaty, but after giving it a go, its a fairly balanced affair, with trade offs - and really shouldnt have been dropped in CoD2.
For example if you use the burst mode your going to whizz through ur ammo and you stand the chance of getting caught out changing the weapon rate.
I amended the script to use 1/2/3 and 5 shot bursts.
All these are handy for using on the single fire and full auto guns.
I initially didnt like using the g3 as I aint got the fastest PC in the world and trying to get a 2nd shot with the g3 for the kill was difficult after the opponent would move after the first shot and prefered the m16 over it.
Stick on 2 or 3 shot burst and its a far more viable alternative.
With LMG's 3 and 5 shot burst are excellent for picking folk off.
So what do you guys think, is this a bit dodgy or should variable fire rates have been a control option in the first place - I'm going with the 2nd option here.
If you would like to give it a go, you can find the script on codfiles and post ur opinions.
Footnote: I dont cheat at any games and positivelly detest it whn people do... perhaps you think this is an exploit, but in my humble its a function that should have been there from the start.
