Is there any sniper travel time or descending rate? Or can i just aim at them even from an extremely far distance and kill?

The weapons in this game are projectile, not hitscan, which is what you're asking. The sniper bullets travel at 1000m/s, so if you're shooting at someone 250m away from you, you have to fire 1/4 of a second ahead of your target. Then of course, you also have to take into account your ping. predragjanjic covered bullet drop.

I don't know how he did this vid. Either it's an old patch or he changed some gamefiles.
Because there is travel time for the bullet. But there is no wind.
I still like the romantic thought of actually feel the right timing rather than just calculate it...Comment

Yes, something is off on that vid, in regards to the vehicles blowing up.
Something to note - you can compensate for bullet travel time by changing your latency compensation values in the usersettings.con file. This has a default of 100, and it's not a dynamic number (it should ideally be equal to your ping, so DICE decided to give it a set 100 as an average ping to what people would play to all servers). The latency compensation offsets the hitboxes of things, so if you're on a server with a ping of 50 and your latency compensation is set at 100, the hitbox will actually be 50ms behind what you're aiming at, while the soldier itself will show as being 50ms. That's what's going on with this video:

So basically, unless you've changed your latency compensation value manually or are playing on servers with ping 100 or higher, your hitbox is going to lag behind the actual soldier model you're shooting at. So while you're shooting right at the soldier model, his hitbox is actually behind him, and this compensates for the bullet travel speed, which gives the (somewhat) false impression of not needing to lead your targets. Play on a server where your latency compensation value and ping are almost identical, and you'll have to lead your target based on bullet travel time alone.
In either case, you will have to lead targets more the farther away they are, but even at about 300m away (near the edge of draw distance for most people), that's only .3 seconds delay, which really isn't that much at all. Notice that even in the video that pilvlp posted, his hits were not instantaneous, even when he said they were. The fact that he was probably playing on a low-ping server (or single player with renamed bots) may have had something to do with that, but there was still a delay in the time between when he shot and when the hit was scored.

Do people actually take this into account, i mean honestly when i play i dont know what it is, but its just like you know where to aim and when it doesnt hit you work by trial and error. You don't need to calculate, just so long as you understand the concept.
I may be wrong, but I don't recall people being able to do trigonometry, geometry, and decimal algebra all in their heads so you don't have to worry of people using this fact against you too much.Comment
