I go with the M40. You can never go wrong with it. Stopping Power, Claymores, Iron Lungs. In that order. With any sidearm, usually the Deagle. I actually find myself being very good with the handguns. Maybe because they are unrealistically accurate from long range.

I am a sniper a lot. I find that when I try to get into the action, I usually meet a whole group of enemies and can't shoot fast enough to save myself. My setup is M40 w/ Iron lung, stoping power and claymores. If I get bored I will move up to snipe. sofar, my best has been 34-4 at crossfire.:yay:

I almost exclusively snipe. Yeah, I will pick up an AR and mow through the enemy everynow and then. But what I have found amazing is that I'm god with a USP.

I noticed it the other day, several times in a single round 2 or three AR guys would come out of nowhere and be just nearly on top of me. And without any problem I would drop two of them with my pistol before I'd have the flashing red screen.

Same with my knife; I've started getting about the same amount of pistol/knife kills as sniper rifle kills in rounds.

I don't know what it is. Does everyone just spray and pray? Or have I been blessed by the gods of quick aiming and accurate shooting?

I didn't start sniping until lvl55. Hated it. Am slowly learning to like it more an more.

              HC:
Sniper rifle of choice (currently R700)
              Silenced USP
              Claymores
              UAV Jammer
              Iron Lung

              Normal:
              Sniper Rifle of Choice
              Submachine gun of choice
              Bandoleer
              OverKill
              Extreme Conditioning

Those have both worked well for me. Especially the normal mode one. Very flexible. You miss a couple kills because you don't have Stopping Power, but most of those are Juggernaut players. Bandoleer means you can sustain those long killing spree's. HC is a different animal, and I only play it occasionally as a change up to normal.

In specific regard to the OP, I wouldn't use a pure sniper kit in normal CoD4. The smallish map sizes just don't favor it and you'd be better served with an Assault Rifle with an ACOG and Steady Aim. Lets you handle distant and near targets.

Just like so many people love sneaking up on an unsuspecting sniper and quickly ending his virtual life, I love watching people who are blissfully unaware of my presence and quickly taking them out right when they start shooting. It's kind of funny, really, they think "ooh, a target, pew pew!" and then splat, they're gone.

So no, never get that feeling of rushing in.

I find myself doing this a lot. I love sniping, and I'm better than most at it. I normally (not always) play well with it in a round, but, this feeling always comes back.

So I find myself running low on ammo, and I pick up an enemy's gun. I'm not sure what it is, but when I find myself with an AR of any type, I can normally roll through a decent amount of enemies. Maybe this is because I'm used to forcing myself to be accurate, but I'm not sure.

Anyways, after playing a whole round without using a sniper rifle, I fell in love. It's the feeling you get while sniping where you want to go and clear entire rooms out, where you want to be right in the action, etc.

Do any of you snipers get that same feeling - wanting to get into the heat of the battle? And do you snipers find yourselves to actually be good with an AR?

I think I know what you mean, if so, then yeah I get it too.
