    [IDEA] Last Stand

    Yes,
I get fed up with last stand, I admit it, and more so than with martyrdom. I'm pretty sick of killing somebody, only to have them spam their fire key at a CQB distance to kill me, or have perfectly steady sights to kill me long range.

Now, I'm not saying remove last stand. It can be argued either way, whether to keep it or to not, that it is possible to counter. However, I have a very small change that I believe would make last stand more in the favor of the original killer, which is how it should be.

I thought this up the other day when I was spec'ing another player. They were shot and went to last stand - the original killer was across the map. So, last stand - they right click to zoom in, and with a perfectly steady hand, take out the target across the map with a few extremely accurately placed shots.

If you haven't guessed already, I suggest the following:

    Last Stand accuracy is decreased
    Last Stand recoil increased
Only last stand if you have a pistol

Having the ability to use a pistol even if you did not originally is cheap, and the steadiness of your hand while dying is too great.

For example, the sniper has quite a bit of deviation in the scope while not holding your breath. While in last stand, bleeding, shot, injured, dying, and while not holding your breath, the player is able to take extremely accurate shots. If this accuracy is decreased, and the recoil is increased, the player will still have the ability to make a lucky last stand kill, but it won't be as easy.

    Opinions? Thanks. :salute:

Well, do you play hardcore or regular? It's pretty devastating on hardcore servers.

Maybe it could be a hardcore only setting?

Here is an idea Aerialz, what about you just pump a few extra rounds into them after you initially hit them, that's what i do.

And, it doesn't appear many other people are having the same problem, so i suspect it's just your style of play which is letting you down.

It's exactly these kinds of posts that get features of the game changed for the worse because people don't learn to adapt. Learn to counter the problem, not fix it by nerfing features.

Ditto, Last Stand is fine (so is Martyrdom...)

If anything, I'd change it so you only get one clip. My best LS was 3 people and I reloaded between 2 and 3. Thought that was a little too much. Not worth spending time to fix IMO, but if I had to suggest a change.

EDIT: Forgot about HC mode. Yes, it is a lot more useful there, but still not over powered IMO.

Yeah, I just "clean-up" my target by making sure they are down to stay down. I have no problem with LS.

I've seen some dudes make really nice kills from LS and I give them props for it.

You all should already know that I don't think there should be changes made to the game. I like it how it is and IMO changes tend to make a game less playable and enjoyable.

I rarely get killed by Last Stand. Like others, I make sure I keep shooting until I see the "+10" show up on the screen. If they drop after being shot, but I don't see the XP popup, then I take cover, and/or chuck a nade toward where they were last seen.

One guy did get me, just by being blazing fast. Props to him...I can live with that. Most of the other times, I got lazy mentally and wasn't paying close enough attention, or trying to be too cute.

The third part is confusing me a bit. Did they not have a pistol for last stand? It is suppose to be a pistol.

You automatically get a pistol in your hand for Last Stand, even if your "regular" pistol is out of ammo, or you have Overkill (2 primary weapons) or have ditched your pistol in-game for another primary.

I think the OP wants that changed so that you have to have a pistol + ammo ON YOU when you go into LS...kinda like people wanting to have at least 1 frag nade in your inventory when using Martyrdom.

thats not a bad idea actually whisky

Last stand imo isnt as bad as martyrdom (at least you have to aim to use it) but an added shaking to the dying guys hand would add a sense of urgency.

Well, I don't get killed by last stand amazingly often, it's just I find it somewhat strange (for the reasons provided).

Even if you guys don't agree with the shaking/less accurate part, you've gotta have some sense for the fact that you can't just whip out a pistol and some extra ammo out of thin air.

                      *BTW, exactly right Whiskey :)

*And Alex, I really wasn't trying to get a major change... Yes, the argument "learn to counter" can be used in almost any situation, so what's the need for testing then? If they're going to add a breathing function for snipers, I feel the same detail should be applied to accuracy in last stand.

Once again, simply my opinion. Guess nobody agrees

I wouldn't have a problem if some of those tweaks or changes were put in...it just doesn't bother me enough at the very moment to want it. :) I think it's similar to the Martyrdom debate...maybe if more people were using LS left-and-right, it would be more of an issue.

Hmm...if only Martyrdom allowed you to kill the bastage on the ground before he had a chance to pull out that death-nade.

I hear you Aerialz and what you say makes sense. I'm just not bothered by Last Stand.

I don't need these perks to reflect reality to enjoy the gaming experience of CoD4. I have a feeling we have a different play style. Mine is very aggressive and I like to get in close. I also play softcore and not hardcore, so that makes a big difference, too.

If you swap your pistol for another non-pistol weapon, or you are using Overkill along with Last Stand, and go into Last Stand, you'll get the standard M9.

Also, I think Last Standers are fine as they are. I do agree with the third idea though.

I tend to snipe from longer distances....

Normally I kill first shot, but if I don't they go to last stand, and a good percentage of the time they get quite a few rounds into you (I shoot, crouch, repeat) So I'm not up close to the point where I just continue firing...

Maybe that's why I have a different viewpoint.
