In regard to Double Tap with semi-auto weapons, I don't have any way to prove it really, but both in testing and regular play, I can empty the clip a lot faster with double tap. It could be purely psychological. It could also be there is a limit on how often the game will accept input. In other words clicking beyond a certain rate doesn't fire bullets any faster. Double Tap would then raise that limit.

I'm thinking they have something like this built in, or the script kiddies would just make a macro that sends mouse clicks at 15 clicks/second and you'd get an effective rate of fire or 950RPM. The same as the P90.

Yeah DT only effects Automatic guns and the M16.

The G3 is so accurate im puzzled why people use the red dot scope with it.

When you fire at long range targets with the iron sight, the recoil will put them out of sight for a short time, best noticable with the M14.
Your second shot will take longer, because you have to find and re-target them.

Reflex sight makes your subsequent shots a lot easier, because you are aware of the target and everything around it.

On real guns it's also more accurate and faster than iron sight, but I think in CoD they're the same.

I just got this gun yesterday and used it for the first time today. I really liked it a lot but I didn't do very well in CQC.

I plan to keep using it, but I have to alter my play style to stay a little bit away from the action personally. I'm just not fast enough to Rambo around with it.

Well I gave the G3 another try and I like it most of the time.. It is not my fav weapon (the RPD is prolly my fav) but the G3 with 3x Frag / Stopping power and Steady Aim is working out pretty well for me.. I found that Steady aim is a must with all gun's now.. just like Stopping power is.. I just wish I could pick other perk's since Stopping power and Steady aim is a must.. there should be more to pick from..

Update:

I now really love the G3 for all of the map's with open area's.. I like it because it it really work's good as an all around weapon.. in CQC I can take people down with Steady aim and Stopping power.. and work's very good at taking down sniper's.. I have been using it alot and it is prolly the best AR in the game if you get good with it.. alot of people don't like it cuz you can't spray but once you learn to tap, the gun become's you're best friend..

Steady Aim is not really a must on the G3. Because when i use it, i always use my Red Dot sights.

Also in CQC the G3 can be a beast, with my Stun x3 i can just stun them and shoot them in the face. Or knife them, of course...

IMO, there is really no need for stopping power on the G3, its powerful enough.

I've just tested the G3 w/out double tap... true... the first time i used it i fired "slower"... and now i fire it faster... and at the same rate as with DT perk... so yes, i've ditched it and added to my Mp5 class... and added a more useful one.

Wreckless? Oh, I beg to differ. The M16 kills with one burst to to the torso (Not to mention the head lol) with stopping power. The G3 with stopping power still takes two shots to the torso, or head. The G3's single shot comes out faster than the M16's burst, yes. But if your aim is refined, the M16 achieves one burst, one kill. The M16 is the professional's choice.
