Where do you put your fingers on the keyboard?

When gaming where finger do you have on each letter? Apparently I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Is it Ring finger=A, Middle=W or S and Index=D?

On the left hand:

From right to left.

Little finger = Shift/Control
Ring finger = A
Middle finger = W
Index = D
Thumb = Space bar

Pinky can go between shift and left ctrl. Useful in BF2 where you mod the bind keys so left ctrl is bomb as well.

Well I've been doing it totally wrong then. Here's what I used to do:

First things first I would change WSAD to WSAF, just felt more comfortable (in this configuration).

Pinky=A, Ctrl and Shift
Ring=W
Middle=R (for reload)
Index=F
Thumb=Space

I had never thought of doing it the way you guys do. Which honestly makes more sense.

What makes sense is what is most comfortable and most functional, not what everyone else uses. Of course, WSAD happens to be the best of that pair for most people.

I'm pretty standard, however, my smallest finger on my left sometimes caresses the shift key.

same, as soon as you sit down left hand on the WSAD keys, right hand on the mouse..

No such thing as a "wrong" way :P. But if you've played games that use the Shift and Ctrl keys, then you usually use the pinky finger on those keys. Its just the most efficient way.

Yeah, my hand goes there automatically when i put my hand on the keyboard aswell. Weird stuff.

This will be the most common for FPS gamers.

Pinky - Shift (or Control, my pinky usually rests on shift.)
Ring - A
Middle - W
Index - D
Thumb - Space
