I never understood everyone crying about the sniper cause if they just took a few hours practicing with it they would be able to kill efficiently. I think most people complaining were the sniper whores from CoD2 who want their ubersniper back to rush with it, but this isn't the point of the sniper.
Snipers are meant to stay back and pick off stray people from a distance. I loved sniping, it required patience, skill and knowledge of the map. But equip the acog now and it's almost more a run and gun weapon than a sniper oO
Minor problems? I consider myself a decent sniper since MoH:SH and through a series of games since including CoD/2, BF2/2142 etc.
When you aim and hold your aim for approx. 1.5 sec. in the chest of your STATIONARY target and the pull the trigger and don't even get a hit at certain distances that's not a minor problem.
It's a major flaw! I'm not sure everyone have been experiencing these issues but I certainly have and I dare say it's not a skill related one. Here we have a game that doesn't bring wind etc. into the calculation alas I shouldn't have to aim at anything else than my target when it's not moving! And I don't even use the ACOG...

Secondly I do not recognize these complaints about an abundance of snipers out there. Nothing I've noticed to be different... The servers I usually play at still have a decent mix of classes.

I don't know about you, but I never had problems sniping.. just bullets were slow and you needed to aim in front of the enemy, not directly in him and you needed to wait 0.5s between hitting hold breath and actual shooting.

      ACOG needed serious fix tho!

I had some major issues with sniping at the start... But after while of practising and finally figured it out...

Yesterday when i played, i saw only 2 snipers, with me on the server... And only few who actually used the Acog..

I don't know the situation now since i haven't played since then. But maybe later im gonna find out...

After installing the 1.3 patch, the ACOG is MUCH better.

What used to happen to me was the ^ would move up and down, but the corsshairs around it would stay stationary. Now its all synced.

And now when I aim at the head, I kill and when I aim next to it, I miss. I will have to relearn to sniping as I was finding myself do this instead of just aiming.

Ferali, if that's your idea of a "minor problem", a broken hit detection to keep snipers weak, then you should try a BF game so EA can "fix" things for you.

You can say it's a "learning curve", but in reality, if your crosshairs are dead on, holding breath or not, the bullet will hit there, unless your scope is misaligned. Holding your breath doesn't make your gun mechanically different and more accurate. Also, no matter how much you hold your breath you can't change whether the game decides to make that bullet hit or fly right through doing no damage. Now, though, the bullet will hit where the crosshairs are, with slight deviation, most noticeable on auto-snipers, and when it hit there it will actually damage the enemy. What a concept! Bullets doing what the should! I'm a blasphemer, I know...
