"Around 400" should cover old and new ones... Of course we could list the range for every model, and since you are 16 and in a wise-guy age you probably will, but that's really unnecessary

Used both and I keep coming back to the AK for most game types. I like the M4 more for hardcore mode because that long range accuracy is killer. Most fights are short/med range though and the power of the AK wins out for me. I also find myself in need of Bandoleer when I use the M4 as I am regularly out of ammo in non-hardcore TDM games.

All weapon discussions really need to be done in the context of specific game types and rule set. Otherwise, the best answer is always going to be, "It depends."

I think the main reason why the M4 is often underrated in real life compared to other guns is one fact that many oversee: it's a carbine, not a full blown rifle. Of course it's not accurate due to a short barrel! It's more in range with the AK-74u, or G36K/C.

M4 would be my choice, the AK47 has too much kick.
And whats the difference with the normal gun and GOLD gun? apart from sticking out like a sore thumb!

there's nothing different with golden guns. It's just a skin. Why does everyone think they have magical powers or something :s

Thats really weird that you could not hit anything.. at 200 yrd at the range I can hit within about 2 feet of each round, did you have the long range site up?

what i find to work perfectly is the silenced ak-47 w/ bandolier, uav jammer and dead silence and i typically try to pick up an m4 for longer ranges

Well, me being an SMG kind of guy, I have tried both. Between the two, I prefer the AK with a silencer, because I play only Hardcore. But thats my opinion. But over all, I'll take and MP5 over any gun.

I was liking the AK47 until falling in love with the semi autos. I'd rather use the G3 or M14 any day. I think I'd have to pick the M4 if I have to stay within the realms of this discussion.

The shot deviation on the Ak drives me crazy. As others have mentioned, it is more about the player than the weapon. I'm sure that those who love the AK47 have adapted to its firing characteristics and know how to get lots of kills with it. I have failed at this with the AK47 as of this writing so I'm going to go home and work on it. :salute:

Well, the notch and the sight on the barrel were there, but I was pretty young then, probably just sucked using the gun.

Eh, it happens. I got to shoot a full clip of a Barrett .50cal. Was pretty intense. I ended up scooting forward from the firing position because of the way it stops the gun from moving back. Was cool.:yay:

I'm asking about M4 vs AK, not M16

M4 does have a faster rate of fire, giving it a slight advantage in CQC, but the AK's superior power will dominate.

                                So.

AK = Close range - Medium
                                M4 - Close - Longish

But, good luck at close range with the M4, it is weaker, and at some points you can clearly feel the inferiority of the carbine compared to the rifle.

But both have its pros and cons.

BTW, the M16 and the M4 are very similar, the M4 has a smaller barrel length and is a bit weaker.
