Well If it isnt the best then what is??? Im sure many gun nuts would agree the AK is the best of the bunch hands down. It dominates in most catagories (reliability, durability, firepower, easy to use, make, and maintian). Thats why the gun is spreading like syphilis across the world. The only thing it doesnt have is awesome accuracy. But that wasnt really the idea of the gun. If you have 1,000 men with AKs and 100 with G3 G36 etc.. The AK will do its job. The gun is designed for supply large armies (like the former USSR).

A documentary on the Military channel said that Vietnam would have had a different outcome if USA used AK's....


And I think a good reason the AK is involved in the game, is that it's still in production..

They found that the most important aspect of general warfare was that the more bullets you could get on these closer targets, the better. That led to the development of the Assault Rifle.

While I agree with much of the post above, sheer volume does not dictate success. Otherwise, we'd just equip a 100,000 men with axes to take on your 1,000 men with AKs. That kind of scaling doesn't make practical sense. :dead:

The AK is very effective in what it does. IMO, it still is not the best AR. But, that's just my paradigm and we don't have to agree.

There is no such thing, either in this game or real life, as the "best" rifle. Each has pro's and con's, and situations where it works better than others. Think of this - if the AK truly was a superior weapon, then all combat groups would be using it still. The AK is reliable and cheap, which is why all these little sub-armies in the 3rd World and Terrorists often use it. If they could get their hands on more modern rifles for the same amount of money, they would.

And I think if you make just about any 1000 vs 100 comparison, the 1000 will win. :laugh:

if they spend all their money on a uber prototype rifle, enemy gets it, examine it, tweak it, use it against them. GG research fee + get own hard.

We need to bring the Steyr AUG into this! Second only in sexy factor the G36 series. Srsly now, look at an MG36 with C-mag, what does it remind you of! *think dirty* it's like a sex tool for giants, perhaps design during the love parade or whatever in Germany?. Plus the AUG is pretty accurate, or so many reports say, thanks to the bullpup design, so it be used for long range, and CQB.

IMO, bullpup is the way of the future.
