The M16 is based on the AK-47, which is based on the MP44. Might as well get down to the roots. :p

It's not a bad gun really, apart from it's slow rate of fire, and no ability to use any attachments. I like to think of it as an AK-47 with a slower rate of fire. It'll be the last AR I use, mainly for the challenges.

Wish they brought in a Mosin-Nagant too though.

Also, on the subject of old guns, the W1200 Pump Shotty is from the 1960s.

Yeah, Armalite design is wildly different than the AK. They were designed to fulfill a similar battlefield role, but that's where the similarities end.

The reason MP44 is included but not any other guns is because its the best gun in WWII and the only gun still leaves a mark in modern era (in form of AK).

Really?! I got the PS3 version, still leveling up, prestige mode is getting bash by ppl on the internet forums, basically you get nothing but a badge, while lose every record on the account.

While those are all noble qualities to possess, what set's the M16 apart is its accuracy and incredible bullet damage.

What a round of 5.56 ball ammunition fired from an M16 does once striking its target is amazing. The round is traveling fast and is comparatively light. It deflects on bone and other dense objects producing extensive ricochet damage.

Many shooting victims I've seen (or otherwise been aware of) have entry wounds in one area and exit wounds at extreme angles or odd locations. Also, I've seen training films while in the military which illustrate this bullet damage and documents cases of it. And, I've been present at an incident on a shooting range at my post where this was the case, too.

The heavier 7.62 AK round is denser and much heavier and tends to travel completely through the target at CQC range.

I grant that the AK47 is a "tougher", more durable rifle than the M16. She's a finicky mistress, but she's more accurate and deadly. I'd rather spend my free time on "weapon maintenance" with the M16 and be assured of those attributes than pull out the ol' trusty AK47. Why? Because in real life, it's about putting lead "on-target" which counts.
