there is bullet drop but it doesnt really come into effect until u get out at least 120+ meters.
sniping is pretty hard for beginners. plus its hard to snipe ppl up close, so take out ur pistol for those ppl. -

If you want to avoid bullet drop and inaccuracy then always choose the l96. Here's a hint... it's got a little auto-aim in it because in the last few patches snipers whined that they couldnt hit squat.Comment

There are numerous guides on youtube that detail bullet drop - the best advice though is to practice.Comment

That is the biggest ******** I have ever heard. Just because you guys get killed by good snipers doesn't mean they use auto-aim. I'm surprised that even a LtCol believes in such nonsense.
May I ask how this "autoaim" would work  ?Comment

A lot of times you'll miss shots simply because hit registration in this game is not very good at all.
Having said that, the best way to compensate for bullet drop over "longer" distances is to aim between one to four pixels above the head of your target. Sometimes you have to take multiple shots until you hit.
Also, at longer-ranges (300+m), due to angles, it's harder to hit when you're sniping from high-ground to low-ground, or vice-versa, so you have to adjust for those shots as well.
It's also important to play in a server where everyone has a similar ping to yours, it will improve your hit registration a lot.
Just keep practicing.Comment

Good tips:
-when you have killed a couple or more people, they will remember you the second time and possibly come looking for you, so change your position every so often.
-make sure that you are always in front of something, to conceal yourself, ie. a bush or something that will camouflage you, many people make the mistake of camping at the tip of a hill where everyone can see them - stupid.
-always aim for the head, you should always aim for the head when the enemy isn't moving, but when you get better you can start to headshot people who are moving, you will be a bit crap at first, although if you learn to headshot people all/most of the time, you will be a brilliant sniper because you get three advantages:
1.Saved Ammo
2.The enemy doesn't know where you are if you headshot them
3.Instant kill
-When in close combat, use your pistol, it is actually a good weapon if you use it properly, oh and if you practice, you can actually use the pistol to kill long range/medium targets if you have shot them once with the sniper already, or just kill people with the pistol anyway, you can kill people with a pistol from about 150m away.
-When using claymores, don't put them where everyone can see them because they wont walk into them, put them in the crevices of corners and conceal them in the middle of bushes.
Yeah, just practice and initiative basically. :)Comment

he made some good points. what i think he means is if you get a torso shot (or any other bar a head shot) they get the red mark to show the direction of fire, meaning they will know you apprximate location. but if you get a head shot, they wont know where it came from and thus will be less likely to be found.
EDIT: oh to buybuybuy, it depends on what maps you are likely to be sniping on. if its a city map with fog, then shots on targets you can see just require you to aim fot the head. its only on the larger maps, mainly china, that you would need to worry about it.Comment

Your enemys ping doesnt affect you AFAIK...A lot of times you'll miss shots simply because hit registration in this game is not very good at all.

Well certainly Ill explain it! First of all many many times when I use the L96 it always seem to hit wonders right to the head even if I have obviously missed it by a shoulder. The gun was brand new after threads and threads of whiners who couldn't hit anything in-front of them, so a little auto-aim was inplanted in it to relieve newbs of their horrible aiming skills. (Before tossing your nonsense at me please read more carefully, **note** I did not imply that they were using Auto-Aim such how you've provided... Simply the gun has a little auto aim in it, just ask anyone who knows enough about the difference between all 3 snipers.
And I'm suprised even a LT Col didn't know about this.I'm surprised that even a LtCol believes in such nonsense.Comment

i didn't see any bullet drop at range 250 m , not at all! the bullet drop start on 300 m and over that range , i tried with the M24 and it is perfect to snipe with , and i think it is the best sniper rifle in this game , low sound , very good cross-hair and above all that ...nice skin this weapon have also the sound too , i hate the other sniper rifle in the game specially the the cross-hair of the M95 <---very hard and bad to snipe or aim with and also the sound of it are very loud and will point at your position when you fire , i really dont know why many people use it , it is very underpowerd in this game , well actually all sniper rifles in this game are---> couse of the 2 or 3 shot kill !!! i know they made it this way to balance the game , but my opinion it should do 1 shot 1 kill , umm that's all i have to say about it :salute:Comment

All of that you are describing can be cut down a lot. First of all, there is no such thing as an auto-aim.Well certainly Ill explain it! An auto-aim based on changing the aim of a client would have to use some aim-manipulation to move the clients cursor/aim towards the head in the instance he/she shoots. That just makes no sense and would be a pain for EA to add.
An auto-aim based on changing the path of the shot would require the server to use some algorithm to determine when or when not to actually give the kill. This would be seen and asked about so much on forums like these.
Second of all, why would EA add auto-aim, when people would start complaining about HAX and AIMBOTZZ ? I mean FFS, the guys over at EA are not retarded, and they're not stupid enough to add aimbot to a certain weapon!
Third of all, when you say you get a kill even though you miss the shot, well that can be server-lag, bad hitdetection, bad hitboxes, bulletdrop, nice aiming from you, etc etc. It can be anything. The last thing an experienced player would think it was is auto-aim.
I can understand you don't know much about this game and therefor can't judge or understand certain situations, but remember that we are all here to help each other !Comment
