Is there a way to get a type of clan server without paying anything?!?!

I was wondering if there was some way to make your own server that you can join WITHOUT paying/renting anything, because it seems a bit of a con to have to pay for your own server, even though you have bought the game with your own money aswell.

If you have a good enough connection then host one your self for clan wars.

depending on your connection 8meg/10meg/20meg/100meg/ and depending on what size war your having be it 5v5 6v6 7v7 8v8 you should be able to host up to ten players no problem for your wars.

Anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong but i have started a server b4 and got 8 guys in it with the highest ping at 60 and i only have a 4 meg connection so it should be possible if you have a good one.

Most even include webhosting as well.

you'll probably have to pay for ranked servers, but u can prob get an extra computer in ur house to act as an unranked server.

or you can look for an empty server and just play on that

Many times before i have tried to make my own dedicated server, i can make one fine, but when i go on to the join internet or join local tabs in bf2, it does come up, but in red, and it says that the server is a different version to what i have, but i have the latest patch etc so i don't know whats wrong - can you join your own dedicated server usually? does it come up white?

Make sure you have downloaded the latest dedicated server files.
Also since you said you have 54MBs internet I assume you are running wireless.
Go to speedtest.net and use the server closest to you then post a screenshot of your results (up/download/ping)

i have done that already, it says my ping is 36ms on the speedtest.net site.

Or you can just join an empty server and kickvote out everyone who joins... Works pretty well untill an admin comes online

Please post your upload and download speed. Also check your ISPs TOS as some don't allow servers and like to cut your bandwidth down to 56Kbs if you run them.

You probably wanna start by ignoring just about every post in this thread. You want a ranked server, NOT a dedicated because that will be unranked. Unless you're running a custom mod or something...

As for the providers, google free ranked server or free ranked server for clan. I don't know the providers right off hand but I have seen them many times browsing about.

Also some providers run specials for free servers provided for clans and squads.

But, back on topic. Unless you do have a very good connection, you won't be able to host a large Internet server.

Best way to roll is to find a comany that will let you rent one for free for adverts
