The G3 is best suited to Hardcore, but is still very useable in normal mode.

      I prefer the M14.

Yes it's both 2 shot kill in chest, but with stopping power the M14 is a 1 shot kill in the head, G3 still needs 2 shots in the head to kill someone. Rate of fire is justthe same, it fires as fast as you can click the mouse.

Recoil might be higher but that doesn't matter if you're shooting from the hip at close range and at long range you should be aiming for the head anyway, and that's a 1 shot kill.

The G3 needed to be full auto. Plain and simple. With such a long reload time, and its semi-auto only capability and the fact it only carries 20 rounds, in the end its not a great weapon in COD4.

          QFT :salute:

I understand from a "rumor control" source that the G3 was intentionally nerfed for game play issues. IW decided to limit it so that each of the weapons has a niche where it excels and a liability where it fails.

The G3's niche is med-long range and it's liability is in close quarters.

I like to shoot the M14 ... :shoot:

In the G3 rate of fire equation vs. the M14's, the recoil is actually a direct modifier because the G3 has a higher effective rate of fire when you're aiming down the sights at close-mid to mid-long ranges. The M14's kick is longer and more prolonged (that almost slow upward rise), and you have to pull down to compensate -- whereas the G3 has a short and sharp kick, but it's right back in the spot you were aiming at in a split second. It's the difference between "shot.. shot.. shot," and "shot. shot. shot. shot," which is how I notice both guns are fired. In CQC at the hip neither gun does as well as the other rifles, though both are competent in those areas. At long range you should aim for the head, of course, but when a target is aware and engaging you from that range lining up a head shot will no be so easy. Aim at the upper torso/neck and head shots will come. The m14 is a single head shot kill with stopping power, but it's not often that your first shot is a head shot.

For practical reasons the G3 just seems to do everything the M14 does better. In hardcore, the G3 is so freakin' quiet that I don't even use a a suppressor for it. I'll usually load up UAV jammer and begin fighting with my silenced secondary in the event of a UAV.

It is very quiet thats why i love it so much iv had the best rounds with that weapon, i think if u made it full auto it would be great for CQB in reality its a shame u cant switch firing modes to full auto and 1 single shot.

The recoil on the G3 is already way less than it should be (7.62 x 51 is a big round for an assault rifle.) In fact, the M14 should have less recoil than the G3 (it's lighter.) So, if the G3 had full auto it'd be straight up imbalanced.

I like the G3, I wouldn't use it as a main weapon, but on the few occasions I've picked it up, the headshots have been bountiful.

SMG's are more my bag though, up close and personal ftw

Its too weak at close quaters for me, although i really havent given the weapon enough time to give a final verdict
