    Need Shotgun Help!

Starting to feel rather unlucky with the Shotties in COD4. Most of the time when I hit them close by none of it hits, even when I put the crosshairs around 'em. Am I doing something wrong, or is this poor hit detection? :hmm:

And yes, I've got the "Good" Shotgun.

I see no problem with the auto shotty.. i do prefer the starter shotty but it doesnt come in gold camo!

    Here is my load out
    - auto shotty
    - deagle
    - stun nades

    perks
    - 3x spec nades (stun)
    - sleight of hand
    - last stand (but anything works really)

tips - USE THE STUN NADES, using the shotty is much easier if the target cant move (sitting ducks )

first few rounds with it :P

but then again i am an ex-clarker from 2142 :P (see siggy)

      You an ex-clarker too? :)

Well, I guess I need more practice. Sleight of Hand looks like a must for the Shotty, takes forever to reload at times.

      Any other tips appreciated.

        LOL, its an auto shotty????

No wonder Ive been having problems with it Ive been single firing the thing and thinking how terrible it is.

I went back to the origional.

As for the problem aiming, the closer the better, and headshots. I do OK with it, its not my favorite of weapons.

          i like those SS hehe

          "what does gg mean?"

          "except for nubtubin" (pronounced nub-tub-in)

But anyway, i love the shotguns and i agree with most here, stun your opponent then take them out. Closer you are more power your going to get and by any means Mic mate, the shotguns in this game have a range of about 1.5 metres, not the 15+ from the clark

I like both shotguns. Add Double Tap to either and you are moving some metal down-range very quickly.

I always, always reload after firing any amount. You never loose ammo that way as it is simply added to the weapon and you don't run out in sticky situations. This means I don't need Slight of Hand and can use another perk.

I love in that first screenie (besides the Elvis sighting...) that there's a dude on the scoreboard named "Stonedasmofo" who is 10 kills to 26 deaths... That's not competition!

Good work with that shottie if you got over 40 kills with it. :salute:

I too am an ex clark15 and ex (albiet crappy) shotgunner from BF2 (though the mech auto and the "streetsweeper unlock weren't bad) :)

Anyway, I love the shotguns in this game!

When I started with the W1200 I used Stuns+ Jugernaught + Steady Aim until I got the front grip attachment. Now I use smoke + grip + Juegernaught + myrterdom.

After using the M10411 I must say I like the W1200 better. Though I prefer the grip and smoke over extra stuns (though I do love stuns).

Since I use the grip attachment I dont have access to extra stuns or frags. So I use smoke to cover bold assaults straight up the street. While seemingly obvious, its a decent tactic to catch guys off guard. Juggernaught is very handy when getting in on multiple enemies, which is where the shotgun really gains its wonderful reputation.

I bet it was from someone who had not tried it first! They'd rather reload faster with their Slight of Hand perk while I'd rather unload faster with my Double Tap perk. I guess it depends on what you want to do and how you like to play.

I frequently use the shottie to clear a room and then pick up another weapon, so I'm all about getting the lead down-range. With so many weapons lying about you've got quite a selection of already loaded weapons available...

For my autoshotty loadout I generally go with:
3x Stun Nades - great for getting in close
Juggernaut - to survive the spray and pray of several enemies once I'm close
Martyrdom - very effective when you die close to a group of enemies

Slight of hand could be a good alternative if you are good enough not to get the baddies without getting hit to much. Double tap should be saved for guns with bullets and big magazines.

Thanks for the tips, though I don't see much of a difference between the Auto-Shotty and the Pump Shotty.

Haven't tried Double Tap yet, might be interesting. Double Tap didn't do a thing on my G3. :p

                        Says you =P

My shottie goes "Boom-boom-boom-boom-boom" while yours goes, "Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom."

Thanks, Double Tap! You're a life saver (taker)! :salute:

EDIT: Honestly though, I've been using the P90 more than anything else.

Well I just finished the Shotgun only round on Bloc with the Pumpy, using Double Tap and Steady-Aim.

Went on a crazy 10 kill streak while the enemies had a tough time aiming at me.

Thing is that sometimes a full shot wouldn't hit even when I was aiming directly at them. Oh well.

Yeah, there appears to be some randomization to the shot pattern where a large chunk misses from time-to-time. The Double Tap on the pump is really quite fun, too!

Also, remember that what you see happening is just one view and often times not completely accurate. The Kill Cam shows what really went down and it often shows that you really weakened the enemy substantially... he was just able to recover.

Auto shotty doesnt need double tap, 1 shot gets you a kill from close range and it fires fast enough so that if you miss you can quickly get another shot in, but sleight of hand is important because it only holds 4 bullets which is tricky if you run into 3 or so guys because yeah.. you need to reload..

double tap on the single shot shotty is awesome because its speed is like the auto, and because it holds like 12 rounds theres no need for reloading fast. I prefer the single shot but im playin with the auto because of the gold camo :P

ALSO there is no point in using the grips for the shotty, id much rather have 3 stun nades instead of no recoil by far

stun nades are ULTRA useful, if you get flash naded and your blind just chuck out a few stuns so the enemy cant do **** till you can see, if you jump into a large group of guys by accident chuck a stun nade , hide , come out while they try to slo-mo their way out of your shotty bullets XD
