Snipers not team players?

Ive never really had an argument about being a team player but if you kill an enemy, your a team player. So if a sniper kills an enemy, hes a team player.

If you never pass the ball to anybody else while playing lets say basketball or football, scoring few points every once in a while does not make you a team player.

Assault Snipers are team players and can be deadly, especially with SVD.

Snipers that camp often and use clays and nades are not so much.

As it was said, it really depends on the sniper playstyle.

Like several posters have pointed out - it depends on the player rather than the kit.

I often play sniper, and lone wolf. I usually find it just annoys most squads to see someone join them, and then spawn as sniper. That doesn't mean I don't try to help out the team. I usually end up with a positive k/d ratio, as well as flag defends, kill assists etc.

Often I'll cover or follow a squad if I see they need some help. I also spot pretty much anything I see for the rest of the team - which sometimes gets you killed when you think you've hit "Q" then "Spotted", but you accidently fire a shot instead... This usually happens when I'm spotting a tank or APC

Yes. If you want to lone wolf as sniper, then don't join a squad and use up a slot. You can lone wolf and still help the team, by spotting, defending flags, and dare I say it? Claymores in the right locations.

This round I did last night I killed with everything from: gaymore,knife,nade,pistol,rifle,tank,heli to jet. We were cornered 5 times being beaten on by tanks and jet. I capped flags and when I was the only player left while in jet I ejected and capped a flag so my team came back and we won this round.

Snipers as well as any kit help the team but it boils down to the person playing the kit as to whether he or she is a team player:

If you are taking out targets ahead of advancing divisions or clearing/scouting an area for friendly troops, that's teamplay.

If you are ****ing stuff like claymores all over, you're NOT a teamplayer.

To put it bluntly, you're a n**b.

In fact, I often take advantage of my team by standing behind friendly lines and headshotting probne guys from 350m away. Very lucrative business (there are few snipers that can do that, probably 200 out of the total 40,000 that play BF2 - that's why we 200 can tear it up).

I think they are team players as long as they do their job. If they put clays down in helpful spots not facing walls, then they ar OK. but a lot of noobs just use the rifle to see far and get shot. What would help is if snipers could see through that gay haze through their scope.

If it means that everybody who manages to kill an enemy is a teamplayer, lol, ok.
I think the only non-teamplayers are on the other team, they are teamplayers of the other team of course.
Killing does not mean teamplay/-work. This is actually "working towards the same goal" but does not necessarily mean you are teamworking.

I was playing last night in a 6 man squad on =WM= as a sniper. I was perched high up with my L96A1 while they were attacking from below...I was also spotting. It depends on how you are playing the kit basically.

Theres really no standard definition for gameplay teamwork. People in real life work hard and study hard to become "teamplayers" and teamwork by the very essence is really hard work. But in real life, teamwork is also being rewarded with better results. Teamwork, the way I see it, is a system of balancing out each others weaknesses throughout each other strenghts, cooperation to cover more ground and increase efficiency and coordination to create reliability, security and again, increase efficiency.

In real life, people group or team up to increase efficiency and in military aspect, they do so to decrease their chances of getting killed/hurt.

In gaming terms, anyone who is making a conscious choice to play off or support others to balance out each others weaknesses and strenghts, can be considered a teamplayer. Thing is, very often, it just doesnt show.

Medics are very point-rich in the BF2 economy - provided they go out of their way to save a dying player at least 30 times a round.

If their just on their team, doing their sniper thang and killing people than their contributing.
If their on a squad, and their all the way across the map from their squad and not backing them up, than hes not a team member.
