In SnD, it is quite ownage, because it's pretty much a free win if you can aim well :P

It doesn't seem to be too much of an advantage in CoD4 although I have run across a few people who dolphin dive to good effect. Against those people, you just look to expect it and work it out. It's actually pretty difficult to get out-shot in this game. The dynamics seem to favour the smarter people with the better guns who use cover more effectively. I don't see this as a crazy twitch game like some others, although I feel like there is a little weapon and perk imbalance in the early ranks.

Having said that, I'd like to see the ability to fire while in mid air taken out. While it's just a game, that ability IMO is pushing the boundaries of acceptable physics a little too far. Let people jump if they want, but allowing them to fire in mid-air just encourages them. There is no conceivable reason why it should be possible.

As long as people play fair, then little mechanical quirks like hopping are no big deal. However, if one team is demolishing the other consistently, I'd consider it gentlemanly to either balance the teams or go easy on the spawn camping. Nobody likes to be in a crappy circumstance and games should be fun, not about stroking your ego. If I'm on a really big streak and the other team is getting frustrated, you can bet I'm not gonna airstrike their spawn. I just don't see the point in ruining their experience any further. But, that's my style and my opinion.

hehe, yeah, the G3 seems a good match for us Baur users right now. I'm enjoying that quite a bit at the moment, as well as the plain old MP5 for CQC.

Now that you're in Aus, I'll probably see you around. Add me to XFire and I'll track you down. I just wish there were less Aussie servers with 32p TDM and more with objective-based lower player counts. High-count TDM is just pure idiocy to the highest degree, but I better not hijack this thread any more :)

Now if we can just get rid of the lame air strike and choppers then the game would be perfect.
Airstrikes and choppers are fine, why dont you like em?

                *sigh*

There will always be those players (and admins) screaming "It's no fair! You can't do that! You have to give me a chance!". Guess what? This isn't the Revolutionary War with the Americans against the Brits! We're not lining up on a field, firing muskets at each other. This is an FPS shooter, not a combat simulator and there are no "rules of war". Any server admins that kick and ban players simply because they are using tactics that allow them to "pwn" the other team are pathetic.

My clan is of the philosophy that you should just play and not whine. The only things we have issues with is the obvious, such as using cheats and glitching into buildings, which doesn't seem possible with COD 4. Hell, you can't even go prone in many places so you don't have any legs sticking through walls.

So, if you don't like these sorta things, find your anal retentive clans that enforce a ton of rules and have at it. The rest of us are going to play and have fun.

The only server your clan has that I can see is a hardcore server. I don't care for hardcore much.

I've found hardcore matchs more fun to play, actually gives a challenge imo.

Yup - no maps, no enemy blips on the radar, no nade indicators... and we just changed one of our servers to sniper only with a lot of customization..

                            I respect this approach. :salute:

But, having a fun time is important, too. We don't have a popular server and when a team is getting thoroughly pwned, they leave. So, I (we, as in my clanmates and I) have been trying everything we can to keep the teams balanced and the rapage to a minimum.

I grant you that there are different approaches like you've outlined above. If you have any further advice, you'll find me very receptive.

If you go with the example given earlier, attacking the spawn with the plane/arty, here's some advice... don't let the team get that perk! Fight better! It's just like when we removed the "no base camping" rule in our BF2 and BF2142 servers. If you don't like getting base camped by a tank, learn how to defend and take it out.

It just makes admining so much easier. The average "pubber" isn't going to take the time to visit your website and read the rules. They just want a game. The only ones following the rules are the regulars.

More than that, you should be gone from the server.

A game doesn't have to be totally realistic, but bouncing around on the battlefield is just plain silly, and encourages others to pick up the behaviour which then degrades the game for everyone. Lord knows there's enough lame-ness in gaming out there already.

My group would probably give a single warning through text/chat, and then kick the player.
Do you want me to stay still?! Do you want me to draw a big target on my forehead for you?!? Maybe even tie my hands at my back?!?!? Are you kidding me?!?

I WILL DO EVERYTHING ( no hacks, no cheats, no glitching ) to win the game for me and my team. You say you know it's a game but then again you want to keep it realistic. Uhm, yeah, real life, I'd imagine a team on navy seals, having Saddam cornered and they're like talking strats to capture him. And their squad leader would interrupt them, no, don't do "that or that", it's lame and cheap.

Cry-babies, they're like women. Can't go around with them, but can't go around without them neither. If they would just cry less and play/have fun more...
