I actually like TAMPA. When the round just started the feeling is incredible to run and gun with 5 or more tanks in formation. Makes you think this is unstoppable.

I can still remember when i didn't know how to podsurf, and even back then i used the beacon alot.

On Camp G there's only a few places that are far enough from the heat of the battle to place a beacon at anyways (without it drawing alot of attention).

If you placed the beacon far enough from flags etc. a bunch of enemies has to make a trip to destroy it, and thus they have less ppl defending flags. If they leave the beacon alone, at least you can create a situation where the enemy has to fight on multiple fronts and devide their forces when defending a flag.

I don't think the beacon was meant to be used to get to places faster, but rather from an surprising direction.

I had the 1.43 beta loaded already, and it has worked like a champ so far. The transporter pod change is really noticable (Like first time you pod out and drop like a stone *straight* down, no momentum, no stearing at all...) and really annoying, but otherwise it's all goodness in my book.

I don't think they fixed the EU transport gun bug. They definitely didn't fix the occasional random death when podding out of transport. One interesting thing I haven't heard documented though- It seems like it's doing a better job of updating the master server right away when you get an award or promotion- I've seen several things show up right away, and once the server crashed after I got an award, and I said, "Oh noes, DICE, you sux0rs!" and then I was like, "OMG, my award is still there! DICE FTW!"

(And *that's* something you don't here every day...)

Actually if you read the notes, there's supposed to be some movement so that we can access the rooftops...

Another mix-mash patch for me I think.

Scar is better, definitely. I used it happily pre-patch, but now it's as devastating as the krylov, so will just feel even happier using it.
Clark is better too, even though I saw an entire squad using the clark getting mowed down yesterday because they were using it inappropriately - seems like some people just think that because it's received a buff that it's now the new awesomeness in any scenario.

The pod changes are a major joke. If they expected some rooftop usage to occur, they just killed all chances of it happening. Choke points on 64 man city maps are now very difficult to traverse (frag spam ain't fun kiddies), and the transport pod? may as well call it a suicide booth. I can see the need to remove major pod surfing, but the limitations they stuck onto pod movement just mean you are pretty much helpless, and with a hapless squad leader, you're screwed from spawn.

Pac gunship shields are still the fail. didn't check much regarding the missile tracking.

LMG's are better, marginally. But I don't use them enough to pass major judgement, so meh *shrug*. Haven't noticed anything regarding sentry gun tracking yet either. Haven't checked transport gun either. The rdx shotgun detonating apms and rdx is fine, but it doesn't really detonate them, just makes them disappear... why couldn't it make the rdx actually explode and the apms actually detonate? Smoke grenades are now effective though, and I've seen them being used more, which is cool.

I do like the "lottery" autosave kit feature though, wonder what I'll get next spawn....

I feel like the sentry guns got bumped up a bit, i am getting killed by them faster and i am getting a few more kills with them as well

yeah sure genius and thats why DICE/EA state this in list of changes:
                - Further fix to prevent "pod surfing". Note that some pod movement will still be possible and is an intended gameplay mechanic to allow the player to have some small choice of landing site and to access rooftops

Sometimes I wonder if people think before they type. I don't miss people surfing past choke points, but I do miss my roof tops.

I just installed the patch (got it from id3) this morning. I played only one game of Tunis Harbor and about 5 minutes of Highway Tampa.

Firstly, I didn't have any troubles. Installed great and I got right on. I don't know if it effected my NS. I'll check that out tonight.

I didn't pod so I can't talk about what the pods do. I don't think I really like the idea that you can't move them. Seems like a strange "fix" for Dice to take on with the last update this game will probably ever get.

I love the ROF change on the Clark. It is just how a shotgun should operate. That being said, I will still only use it sparingly and obviously depending on the map.

Highway Tampa. I didn't really see enough of the map to comment. Seems OK. I'm not a big "vehicle" guy. I should probably try to incorporate this into my style of play...but just haven't up to now. The map is huge and if you don't like vehicles, it might get boring. I do like the idea of another map to play, though. It will keep things fresh for a while.

Didn't try out the scar. Never have been a big fan of that gun (Voss or Krylov for me) but I'll give it a whirl now.

So far...so good. I'm just glad I had no installation issues since it appears there have been lots of those!

Can you still spin the pod away from it's original drop point? I have never understood "pod surfing." I just never took the time to learn how to do it. I don't have problem with that ending but I would have a problem is you can't simply spin the pod into a larger drop radius.

Also....what have the done to the pod that are launched off the titans? Can you still control those? What I mean, is can you pod up onto the top of your own titan or control where you land on the enemy titan?

I'm can't speak for everyone, but it looks like beacon-spawned pods can still be steered a little bit. It's noticeably less than before, but still there. For example, without fiddling with mouse sensitivity or anything I can still land on the vent-hole deck (not the upper roof, but not the bottom deck with the doors - the one in the middle) from a beacon that's in the "stovepipe" on top of a Titan.

Yes, Titan-launched pods are still fully controllable. Not sure about transport-launched pods - don't think I set foot in a transport last night.

it even froze my pc few times and was sluggish at times. yeah, it's a little unstable at the moment. i didn't know it was a server side problem so i deleted my radical file and at least i don't freeze anymore.

Haven't gotten a single server crash, CTD or connection problem in the two days I've played 1.40 now.

SCAR and Clark buffs are very well executed, both were very deadly before but SCAR is at least at the same level as the Krylov now :)

I can still move pods about as much as I could in 1.25 (when not pod surfing), except for the transporter pods.

Titan maps are a lot more fun now with more gunships, more people to kill and more people that could potentially kill you. Me like.

Overall it's at least much better than 1.25. Good job DICE :salute:
