I just have one simple requirement for BF3:
It needs to be a kick a** game.
When you think about it, TV, most of the internet, magazines, and all sorts of media are already wrapped with ads. Its not that big of a stretch to ad advertising to games too.
Personally I don't find it annoying to see posters for products and such. Actually I find it a bit amusing and can also possibly make the game seem more realistic!

I can see how you would want to restrict command to someone who knew what they were doing, but this could be accomplished by the aforementioned "training" sessions without depending on rank.
