If I could run Crysis on ultra high, the yes I would ditch this... for a while at least.

Do the same test on a 60FPS server with both clients locked at 60FPS and then show me the money. Ping differential should be less than 10ms.
Why do you think the hitboxes are lined up perfectly over a LAN??????? Or on a locally created server????????
Framerates over 60FPS are discarded by the server....which is reporting your location and actions to everybody else. So while you see someone moving very quickly in front of you, the server says...NO....he's here, not there. The server is always right. Your graphics card is throwing out more FPS than the server can accurately report.

Took that from the "Video Info" thing on Youtube*****Please read at least this*****
**** Version: v1.4
**** My Ping: ~53
**** target's ping: ~86
NOTES: I did not modify the game in any way to make this video. No CFGs or alterable console values or whatever -- NOTHING was modified.
I was ducking when I shot the sniper rifle, although the sniper rifle is accurate in all stances.. proning and ducking barely increases sniper rifle accuracy at all - only slightly.

a friend and I joined an empty server (someone else's server where we got ~70 ping) and tested the hit detection for battlefield 2. it's pretty ridiculous.
maybe understanding where you need to aim will make this game a little less frustrating for you.
The game displays a small yellow "X" over your crosshair if you successfully land a hit on an enemy, but because of the reduced resolution and the video compression, it's somewhat hard to see when it does show up in this video. so i added a Beep sound indicating that the "X" popped up. if you want you can view it in fullscreen if you want to make sure, and see the X's for yourself.
hope this helps someone..
the song is by Metallica called Sad but True and metallica retains copyright ownership etc..
And are you telling me that the hitbox thing in BF2 is not as bad as you see in that vid? Coz then you are so wrong my friend...
:laugh::laugh::laugh:What teamplay?!Originally posted by (TM)KillJoy View PostThe first couple times I played the Crysis Demo, I really wasn't all that impressed. But after a while, it really got better, and now I can say I do really like it. Thing is, the demo won't be much like the whole game, and for sure, nothing like the Multi-Player. I like the team play of BF2, I like dropping into a server, joining up with players I have never seen before, and playing as if we do it alot. Oh, I am going to buy and play Crysis, but if the Multi-Player turns out to be a bunch of guys running around shooting each other, you can bet, I'll be going back to BF2. I see alot of my XFire friends playing COD4, but I really didn't like that demo, but even still, I can see other games slowly replacing BF2. It won't be as soon as these games come out though.

Hitbox and graphical image position compared to each other relies on a sh!tload of factors. Starting your very own hardware on your machine, up to detailed settings for both server and your machine.
From what I gather, a lot of games use an automatical correction for interpolation and extrapolation, aswell as lag compensation. For Battlefield 2, its values are set for the most optimal setup under the average conditions.
So if a server has tick times changed, it will immediately reflect on your game.
Its all very technical, but bottomline is, BF2 lacks "autotuning" for such things, which many games have implemented.

To be honest I will be playing Crisis but I won't uninstall BF2. I will still play BF2 a lot and also play crisis at the same time. Crisis may be good and all but you have to admit that games like those are really only meant for 1 player story mode and not technically a MMOFPS like BF2, Quakewars and UT3.

I play COD4. . . .Maybe one or two rounds a week but I spend most of my time with BF2. I see no reason why you cant play several games at one time. Well maybe one at a time and not all at once but I think you get the idea. . . . . . . .Red
