It's a common function of most modern HDs, you will find most of them have a facility called SMART (Self Monitoring Analysis & Reporting Technology) You usually have to enable this functionality through the the BIOS of the motherboard you are using. Hey guys, I still haven't fixed the problem and I looked up alot of stuff, I tried that drive scanner thing everything said it was OK (don't really have money for a new HD) and I called the Samsung adv. tech support and let them listen to my HD lmao and they were like that's normal loading sound lol
man, it don't do it on Crysis MP (which I have been playin) or COD4 MP, so I dunno what it could be, it's not happenin much on gunz anymore but on bf2 its killin me lol (gunna test bf2142 right now, I don't think I got it in that 1)
Maybe I should just try reinstalling BF2 oh and here are some of the things I tried lol
in the nvidia control panal:
Set Texture Filtering - Negative LOD to Clamp
-Set Threaded Optimization to Off
-Set Dual Display to single (dunno why it was set to dual)
-Set Vsync
and some other things I can't remember but mostly it was in the Graphics Card settings so I don't think the graphics card settings are doing it cause it was still the sameComment

yeah HD's sound like a truck grinding gears kinda, thats when its writing stuff onto it, like the page file, page file mainly just the HD equivalent of memory like loading a game.
try this, & if it doesnt do good just go back to the original setting, but put your page file down to 1GB, see what that does, it will use more of the RAM that way.
if that doesnt work i dont have a clue, if you move it to 1gb & it works good, load up your game & take a screen of the task manager so i can see what s doing plz.Comment

I tried what you said and it still there =\ I tried reinstallin too no help lol I dunno I tried like everything I dunno what it could be I'm gunna try taking out card and putting the old one back in and see if it's still there, if it isn't then I'm gunna RMA that card, cause if it don't do it on my old one it has to be the card right?Comment

im sturtering like mad every 5 mins or every 1 min. ping is always at 27ms. was playing 1on1 with 27ms,. (2 ppl on the server. still studers.
so my ping is always at 20-30ms and fps is @ 100fps < i dont even think it has eva!!! dropd XD its like i took a photo of the number 100 and glued it on my pc moniter.
ive done 500 sleep too.
im on 5mb sec bigpond /10gigs p/month.
on a dlink router. tryd just conecting the net strait to my pc. didnt work.
what ports are need,d for bf2,?
if all the ports are not open. will i still get lag.Comment

vista hogs ram, i'd add some ram should help, when yours is stuttering does or is the HD working? have you defrag'd the HD?

the net speed says. 8395kb/s sec download - 118kb/s upload- 51ms
test done 1600miles from my location. ping around aus and nz.
other photo is pc specs . network at 108kbps . memory says 24 hard fualts/sec with 68% used. this is with bf2 running. ? hard faults . whats this? it jumped to 104 before too.
cpu is at 2 ...but just cooled down from 100%Comment

Here the peak is 1,240,724 when the physical memory available is: 772,204 , isn't that peaking over it? lol
Argh, I really should get to putting my old card back in to test, but I don't want tooo xD

and long as you dont go over the "limit" in the "commit charge" then your ok, the limit is a combo of ram & pagefile, the "avaliable" at top is the amount of ram avalliable.:salute:
Edit, the more ram available the more the system will use and less will be needed to go on page file (HD)

is it just me or the only ones that seem to have this problem are 8 series card owners, because I get this too for the first few minutes of a game then it usually gets smooth, I use vista. No other game does this.Comment

well im getting 100 fps in bf2 ...then it jumps to 80 fps ( and thats when i get major lag.stutter).
ive forced vertsycn on its smoothdout just a little,,.
could be a bad combo off my 2 gigs +vista+ net conection. XD
im dual booting with xp... just neva got to install bf2 on it.
ill fire it up and check my ram info again... and if its no good. then its the net or the 8800gtx ( since everyone else says bf2 is running fine on xp)
i just booted up xp with my same system and using my net on the router,
dam!! game runs fine....perfect... killing player 150.200 meters away with eas (no lag).
conection runs lower!! lower pings.
realy smooth,
no mouse problems too.
sux caus i want to play this game on vista
i didnt check how much ram it ate in xp. but im shur iff i add more ram to vista it will not fix lag issues,,, the game is ment for xp ...........XDComment
