As long as game companies don't use GSP's and only certain providers can run a server its a little more ok with me.. cause most people have their own hardware which is far better than most dedicated servers which are not fully dedicated to one person or group.

You got it right. One of our guild members hosted a small informal game on his home PC last night. We really were just planning to learn the maps better. Our pings were around ~120 but the game still ran very smooth. What's more, we were surprised to find our points still counted! No overpriced GSP needed!
