does this mean i have to continually update punkbuster software every so often? is there no auto update?

It's supposed to auto-update, but doesn't always do that for a lot of people.

Many suggest doing a manual update each time you get a new game. A bit of a pain, but does seem to solve quite a few problems people have. I see very similar stuff on different forums when games come out using PB.

so how do u update PB for cod4? In the pb updater, when u go to add a game, there is no cod4 on the list. So i went to browse for it, but theres no file to add

Played last nite fine and some this morning but now am having the same issue with servers not showing up. Can connect via console, PB updated, firewall on/off doesn't matter. "Waiting for master server"

I've tried to Play Multiplayer the last few nights. I can log in to some servers but others time out. When I do get into the game it will play fine for a few mins then I start getting connection problems or the server gets real laggy. I have a real good ping to most servers. I have well over the specs to run the game. I've turned down or off some settings in the game but still have the same problem. Several of my friends are having the same issues as well.

Anyone having problems timing out is because IW set timeout at 10 seconds. I believe they are fixing this problem if not already fixed.

If Punkbuster does not work , try this...

I was having the same problem. I read in some other forum to update the firmware on your Router. If you are not using a router , I cant help ( but I think everyone having this problem is using a router ). Just go to your routers website download & update your firmware , all will be well. ( I now see punkbuster might help as well )

ive updated my PB and everything, i was playing at 2am this morning perfectly fine and all day yesterday. But i tried to join right now and im getting the 10 second timeout again..

has anyone figured out a way to solve this? or is it just a random thing we have to live with haha.

and ejam, how do i find out what my router is?


ooo and now it gets better again, now instead of just a normal 10 second timeout, it says " awaiting key vode " again! This **** keeps getting better and better.

3 day in a row "master server" is still updating

Hey everyone, I've tired a few of the things all of you have said, and none of them have worked.

Cant join through xfire, or any direct ip input.

Just constantly getting waiting for master server message.

well i had the same problem , and i think its a random connection problem, because one time i went to the options and denied the alow download and i did enter the public server with no problem. then i tryed to connect to a private server for a war and the error appeared again so i allowed the downloads, and it was no good, after some 15 tryes, i did the connect normaly and then i did the reconnect instantly like in the 2nd second and i was in. so its all very weird to me ! lol
