You know, i'm fine with the idea of transports ramming gunships. Even if i'm in one and a transport is trying to ram me. If i'm that dumb to let it happen, I deserve it.

QTF, you really have to suck for a transport to hit your far faster and well armed gunship...
Ramming isn't that bad in air, still quite noob but as a last resort I can see why... Air to ground, though, is freakin annoying... driving along and BAM, a transport hits you for a 1 hit kill. GG. Ground to ground, like FAV vs. tank, is also really queer, miss your cannon shot and you die, plus the FAV driver can bail out and live.Comment

So your admitting you could have avoided the collision and could of tried to escape. But you feel because someone is going to kill you, you have to resort to a suicide attack. How about honing you gunship flying skills before using it again? From what is said, in that situation, you would of had more momentum and the other gunship would have basically been hovering.Podding is completely different IMO as you can't really go far anyway, without pod surfing I mean. Frosty, I don't think you read or absorbed what I said about the situation. I had no options of survival or even putting up a fight, he would've been on my tail while my shields were recharging. So it was die by him or die killing him, simple choice.- With more momentum you can easily out run the gunship and fly up to the skies avoiding death, instead of taking the easy and stupid way out, wasting your gunship to get rid of theirs.
- If the gunship was hovering and taking off I am a little disappointed that you missed it, I mean, just taking off or hovering = easy kill.

Seems to me the people who dislike rammers so much are the people who like to whore it up in the Gunship & Walker - getting insane kdrs. Why would you ban someone who performed such an action, surely if they are wasting such a valueable asset as the Gunship their team will surely lose.
Transport attacks on Walkers can be avoided with an observant crew scanning the skies for transports. Teams spotting such things helps also.
I still think it's sour grapes from people being killed in methods they dislike. I hate people spamming PK rockets at me from 200 yards but I wouldn't ban people for doing so. Well probably not :hmm:Comment

You say you could either die or die and take him with you. As Frosty already said, your third option was actually to use your superior flying skills to lose the enemy gunship, recharge your shields and rockets and then go looking for him.
There are plenty of times that I have come face to face with an enemy gunship, no shields left, no rockets. I don't think 'I'm dead' I try to evade them and lose them by flying low and dodging onstacles (always great when they try to follow you and end up smacking into the terrain), or flying high performing some aerobatics to dis-orientate and lose the enemy.
And no this doesn't always work, sometimes they manage to take me out but hey-ho at least I tried.Comment

Ramming is just a cheap tactic used by people who can't be bothered to use skill to take out a target. It is very irritating having some numpty repeatedly charging at your armour with a transport or rdx laden FAV as a 'quick' fix for a whoring player. My hat goes off to the engineer or recon who actually takes them down without resorting to it.
However, IMO it is completely up to the server admin to set the rules on ramming and decide punishment accordingly.
TrooperJac, at least rockets are an intentionally introduced weapon as opposed to a 50-foot long exploding bomb or RDX-on-wheels.Comment

Transport ramming is a cheap trick but who says it is not an intentional aspect of the game. Strange that a transport collision will kill a walker if done right and is surviveable.
It's very hard to lose a Gunship in a dogfight especially if they're equipped with PDS-1 which all high level gunship pilots will be. If you turn away to run your toast. All you end up doing is spinning around each other and trying to loop out.
I know it sounds like I am an avid jihadder, I'm not. My only niggle is server boys who come up with weird rules to suit their own purposes on their servers. I think the EA ROE is all that should be adhered to.Comment

I wouldn't ban them, but it is unfair on a team to be losing because one player decides to throw the gunship at an enemy. I would kick them, resolve the issue. Why would you ban someone who performed such an action, surely if they are wasting such a valueable asset as the Gunship their team will surely lose...

And at least "spamming" Pk Rockets take remote skill, judging distances and what not.Comment

I once played on some clan server and got into the transport. I was landing with high speed towards one of the silos and a gunship appears right in front of me and crashes. I killed two of the guys and they were both the same clan that owned the server. Needless to say I got banned for ramming.Comment

What do you people think about putting RDX on a buggy and taking out a walker with it? I've done this about 10 times, not including tanks and apc's, and it's pretty fun when you pull it off. Something tells me that's what the buggy was designed for.Comment

See, you keep trying to make it sound like I wasted such an asset that it made my team lose. The dude had already taken out our gunship a number of times, and took me out twice in my apc with his tv guided missile from behind. I had enough of it, got in the gunship (with my support kit no less) and took off after 'em. Now your dumb *** can sit there and try and tell me what I could've done when I know damned well what I could have and could not have managed, but he was taking off and knew I was coming and hit his shields before my missiles hit him. So he either had his radar thing on or I had been spotted by whomever was shooting at me in the first place that made me use up my shields. It was at just the right distance that looking straight at me, he could've taken me out. What you don't seem to want to listen to or absorb or you just keep forgetting is that I HAD NO OTHER OPTION OF ESCAPE OR FIGHTING BACK. I told you not to sit there and try and come up with things I could have done because I already thought of them. It was one of those rare situations where I had no other option. Sorry about calling you a *******, but I'm getting tired of repeating myself...
RDX FAV's (jihad'ers) I don't like, but it is fair game if some tank or walker is whoring a silo and no one else has done anything or could do anything to stop it. Now getting in an FAV from the get go and driving around looking for someone in armor to hit, that's a piss ant thing to do.Comment

tbh;
walkers have no excuse for being rammed, walking aa cannon?
gunships have no excuse if rammed, you suck if you got rammed in one.
the only vehicle i can see as slight unfair a target is a tank since they dont have much chance with their view.
BUT
if you sitting on a nice comfy hill with an ammo box next to you your going to get rammed no matter what your in, tough luck, plinking away at players spawning isnt exactly fair play now is it.
people dont see this, its 'ok' to base rape in a vehicle but not to ram that vehicle >_> hypocritesComment

Exactly, there are times when ramming should not be done, but sometimes, the circumstances just justify it.Comment
