Yup...gotta love the IDS...I use it to the point that if i'm not in a gunfight, I have the ammo hub out and restocking the IDS - its basically a routine for me, plop one down...wait for it to restock, run to the edge of that radius, plop another down...refresh. Guarantees me knowledge of whats coming. Heck, I'll go support if i don't see a radar on top of a gunfight - it'd be stupid not to.

well .... no. What if you have your ids place, and round the corner there are two levels, one your level, one just above it. There is equal chance that the enemy could be on either level, and your ids isn't going to tell you which one, and your knowledge and experience of the map is not in direct correlation to where the enemy wants to go. So no, no wallhack.

Also, the point someone else made about the IDS's range is also valid. It's not going to spot a sniper at 100m distance who can headshot you with a click of his fingers. It's hardly comparable to a wallhack when a wallhack would flash him up instantly, what weapon he commonly wields is academic if the sniper can nail you - so yes, at that range, you can argue you DO need to know where the enemy is.

Calling it a wallhack just sounds like you're attacking a utility that has been used to best you too often. In most common infantry combat situations, somebody somewhere would be providing some form of surveillance in order to locate the enemy. It's the natural thing to do as in a war, you want everything on hand to give you the edge, and the IDS provides a suitable utility to enable you to utilise your space efficiently.

Also, the pulse meter couldn't be called one either. If you pulse it, and the enemy that comes up on your radar just comes round the corner, then he's going to shred you, whilst the IDS is hands free. That said, not difficult to locate the IDS and destroy it either. There's plenty of tools to combat it, including using an IDS against an IDS. It doesn't feel so clever using one when there's one being used against you. Also, considering the frequency at which the commander UAV regenerates, and the wider area it covers, that is something that would fall far more easily under your proposed "wallhax" argument... especially considering it shows vehicles too.

I call it a wallhack, simply because I can rest assured that wherever I am (usually in tight quarters with my shotty) I'll know where the enemy is and where he's coming from. It's so easy to prepare ambushes and in general evade ppl and attack them when you have the upper hand, there should be no reson to get killed when using an IDS-1 to back you up, unless there's a UAV above your head.

In fact, during a few rounds I played last night, I was killed by an OS more often than actual enemies.

Are you forgetting that that's the exact intention of the IDS? To let you see enemies in close proximity. It's still not a "wallhack" though due to its distance limitations and vertical plane view limitations.

Also, disagree with your part about being killed when using an IDS. An IDS is no substitute for skill, and if an entire squad came round the corner at once, then your idea about not being killed when you've got an IDS is out the window. Also, a vigilant player who may also have surveillance and is aware of your position could quite happily flush you out with a grenade or PK rockets. Like I said, plenty of ways to combat an IDS camper. I dunno, maybe you should find some servers where people are a little more wised up to it :P

and you should be ashamed for being killed by a fixed-position artillery bombardment :P Orbitals are easy to run away from!

Tbh the ids is the most usefull thing in titan mode. Just stick it on one of the boxes on the top deck and you can see everyone from a small range maybe only the last 2-3 meters arent shown so yea.

Thats me as well... I find it hard to play Assault. I mean, I am walking around and I am like "Where are the enemies! I don't see them on my minimap :hmm:"

                        Thats IDS addiction for ya.

thats called knowledge and experience. i mostly know when an enemy is coming cuz mostly they come with intervals you can discover. use ur minimap to judge if he will come on the time and place you expect if not judge his next place to come. and just alwais expect enemies. the cant suprise you then.

There are no private run servers in this part of the world.. so.. mod servers are none, or very very rare
