im not going to get into the baur or voss fight so you should really get the rocket add-ons first in the left column and if you are interested in getting ranks faster you should get the defib and medic hub because those get you lots of points on titan maps during attack or defend of the titans.

and for the recon you should get the zeller if you really are going to get into the sniping thing. it is better than both regular sniper rifles because of its better accuracy and power. so if you like to snipe alot you should get it but if not just get the apms from that column

Incorrect that the zeller has better accuracy. It's the same as stock in that regard, by the numbers. Makes more noise, and has half the magazine size. It does a little more damage, but not enough to one-shot to the torso of a healthy soldier. Zeller detontes APM's and RDX, which is kind of cool. It also has a red scope that looks terrible at anything less then high graphics settings, and has a small field of view. So, it seems to be a "Love it or hate it" kind of rifle. If you like to snipe, get the zoom scope- very nice- and unlock the zeller with a field upgrade before you decide to blow a permanent unlock on it.

Pretty close analogy...I'd actually compare it more to the Scar-L from the SpecOps kit.

However, as has been said ad nauseum, the Voss doesn't take any skill to use. Yes, its a great gun, but only because of that fact. If you use it, prepare to not be respected.

On the other hand...for those of us that use the Baur/Clark/Lambert, if Dice decides to nerf the Voss, we are going to have an absolute field day with the Voss users who aren't prepared to use a weapon that doesn't do all the work for them. I match up pretty well against vossers anyway, usually win those fights 66-75% of the time...if they nerf it, its gonna be nasty.

To the OP: You touched on here an infinite debate: Voss vs. Baur.

On one side are sanctimonious a-holes who think the Voss has a built-in aimbot. It does not. By the numbers it does less damage than the stock assault rifles, and has worse deviation per shot. It has a larger magazine going for it, though.

On the other side are people who are smart enough to use whatever rifle seems to be appropriate for a given situation.

(In all seriousness, the folks who "pray and spray" will also prefer the Voss' larger magazine, but the reality is that, like IRL, the rifle does not make up for the inadequacies of the shooter)

^^^ your total play time with both assault unlocks combined is only 5% of your entire gameplay time...do you really have the experience with either gun to weigh them accurately?

                Yes. Thanks for asking.

Does *any* weapon "do all the work for you?"
                No.

Saying it does makes you sound like an ignorant whiner. Not saying you are actually an ignorant whiner, just saying that's the way blatent hyperbole makes you sound.

The "Voss iz 4 teh n00bz" BS is just silly- I've been hearing it for a year now, and it gets old. Nothing personal. Just look at it's stats- It's not that great a gun, and isn't a dramatic upgrade over the stock guns. (Some would say it's not even an upgrade compared to the Krylov or post-1.4 patch SCAR) It *does* have a mild learning curve compared to the Baur. But maybe that means the Baur is over-powered? After all, you yourself say you are able to pwn all teh n00bz with your uber-baur, right? That is another data-point that the Voss isn't some overpowered super-rifle.

(For the record, I don't think that the Baur is over-powered either- I think they've hit the balance much better in this game than it's predecessors.)

Or a data-point that I'm better than the average player. That doesn't change the fact that the Voss is a more powerful gun in the hands of the average player. Members of this forum are hardly "average" players. The stats of one individual do not determine a weapon's abilities.

Consider that you just agreed to the assertion that the Voss has a slimmer learning curve...that's what makes it a Noob weapon. The definition of such is that is doesn't require skill to learn and use effectively.

I've got 81 kills with the Voss...and I've used it maybe 10 different times when I got revived with it. That means each time I use it I kill ~8 people with it. a gun i've NEVER USED before, and I can pick it up and kill 8 people. That doesn't sound like a balanced weapon.

When I first used the Baur, I got destroyed. Same thing happened with the Lambert, and especially the Malkov. I still can't kill with that weapon. Yet the only weapon in the game that was "pick-up-and-kill" is the Voss.

You are arguing that the Voss isn't an overpowered weapon...let's just let the numbers do the talking:

The number of kills with the Baur for the top-17 ranges from 28,000-66,000
The number of kills with the Voss for the top-17 ranges from 57,000-99,000

How can you say the Voss is not overpowered? It has generated 33-50% more kills worldwide. It takes less skill to operate. period.

I've said this point before and I guess I have to reiterate. Is the Voss overpowered? Yes and no. The Voss is meant to be close quarters weapon, and is worse by a good deal than the ARs and MGs at range. The Voss is designed to only be used up close and personal, but since that makes up the vast majority of infantry combat with all of the city maps servers and titan assaults, it is more useful on average than the Baur. The l33t and overpowered mystique generated by forums debates gives extra persuasion to the already likely to spray and pray average player. The sheer usage alone of the Voss as a percentage on a server can give the impression that it is overpowered. If a Baur user sees a Vosser out it the open (a rarity though) , he has a significant advantage, since the Baur is a beast on single shot.

Oiy. You are clearly a master of statistical meaninglessness. I will speak slowly.

                      "easy to use" .ne. "overpowered"

                      "Total kills" .ne. "overpowered"

Total kills" is a function of weapon capability, weapon popularity, and user skill- Total kills is meaningless to your argument, since obviously if it has 50% more kills but twice as many people are using it, it might even be *underpowered* gasp!

Take a look at a thread by blank 1 entitled "Assault: What AR should you use?" You can search for it since I'm too old to know how to insert a link in another forum and stuff. (Teh interwebs is scary t0ugh for us old men.)

Again, the bottom line in game balance is the rifle's stats, and the Voss' are nothing special. Least accurate of the assault rifles, and least damaging. Where is it unbalanced? Honestly, for an unlock that you have to work up to, it kind of sucks. But, the Voss handles similarly to the default weapons, so many people use it. The Baur handles differently, so it takes time for people to get the hang of it.

Jesus dude, the amount of people using the gun has no bearing whatsoever. the numbers i posted are kills per player. if 4 trillion people were using it wouldn't matter, as, on average, it generates 30-50% more kills per player. not total.

If you can't see that the #1 vosser has 33% more kills than the #1 Baur user, I can't make it any simpler. The gun is more powerful, all things considered, than the Baur, and it has gained a reputation as a Noob gun for the fact that it is easier to kill with. end of discussion.

If you'd like a real world example of this, look at the leaderboards for the two sniper rifles. No one is arguing that one is better than the other, and whaddayaknow, the leaderboard for both rifles looks almost identical. (Because they are pretty damn close).

You can argue that the Voss isn't a newbie gun all you like, but the numbers generated by a quarter-million players would prove you incorrect...and they can argue alot more strongly than can I.

In the other half of the weapon stats: Rate of Fire and Clip size. You conveniently left out the two statistics that don't suit your argument.

If all weapons were judged solely on damage dealt per shot and lowest deviation, everyone would be charging into close-quarters firefights with their Zellers out.

Obviously, the Voss' two strengths are the two you omitted.

I find the smoke grenades are only useful when attacking the titan corridors or core. Toss the smoke and then rush in, sometimes if there are no apms you get get right in among the enemy and kill them - they don't realize you are an enemy among them.

I have to agree with one of the earlier posts, if I had my time again I would have gone for all five (or six if NS) player ability unlocks and the Defib.
                                • FRG-1 Grenade
                                • Sprintcor 20 Enhanced Endurance
                                • Staminar 9 Recovery System
                                • MaxClip
                                • Extra Grenade
                                • AED-6 Defibrillator
With these and the stock Assault weapons you will grow to be a better player. In a day or so you'll no doubt have another unlocks or two anyway. and then make sure you get the Advanced Med Hub.

                                Hope this helps
