Street - This is a leftover from previous releases. It plays alright (not great) with less than 10 people on the server but I really dont know why large servers would put this in their server rotation.

New maps for 0.7 are going to be great, all are large size maps (2km and 4km) and are quite a few steps ahead of those older maps. We'll prolly see some 0.6 maps retire from the mod like we have seen in previous releases.
So, all maps are gonna be like Kashan Desert? Oh man.. Sorry to say it, but that is the most boring, ugly map I know about.. If the Kashan Desert map is loading on a server I am playing on, I will most likely disconnect..
So, we are not getting any citymaps anymore? Not new citymaps either?

What maps are you going to remove? I hope you DONT remove these (these are the best maps ever):
    Street
    Sunset City (very good citymap)
    Assault on Mestia
    EJOD Desert (very good map)
    Operation Pheonix (very good map)
    Operation Ghost Train
    7 Gates
    Al Basrah
Zatar Wetlands (very fun though - nice tank battles)
    Daqing Oilfields
    Bi Ming

If you remove those maps, the mod is most likely going to be boring, as it will be big, large maps as Kashan Desert.. The only thing to do on Kashan Desert is to be a sniper. Or maybe not even that either, since we have to walk all over the map..

Please reply on what you think about those maps..

that was removed in the patch, or was ment too but still some players have it but servers dont run it :p

Street, only good for small 16man servers / clan games. biggest problem is that 64p servers are shoving it on there map list and it becomes a spam fest when u shove 64players in a 200m area...

Sunset City, ok map, not grate. Basically a Chinese karkand.

Assault on Mestia, good map, one of the few militia maps.

EJOD Desert, dont play well with the tank and AR imbalances at the moment. probaly had its time we will see.

Operation Pheonix, most likely going, quality aint upto it and its just a fragfest for most of it.

      Operation Ghost Train, staying

      7 Gates, ok map.

      Al Basrah, staying.

      Zatar Wetlands, stock map.

      Daqing Oilfields, stock map.

Bi Ming, hard to say with the shader crash.

Maps get removed to make way for new maps every release, mainly cos there quality or gameplay dont match our new *improved* standards. Not every map will turn into a 4x4km kashan I can tell you that, "small" maps still serve a spot in the mod and you cant get the detail in them where you can in scale 2 maps. 4x4km maps are for large scale combined arms or tank battles mainly, infantry do surve a purpose but if you are not in a mech infantry squad you will find it kinda boaring, epically if you are a sniper on your own

EJOD Desert dont play well? I like it. It is a lot of teamwork there.
Operation Phoenix is also a good map. Teamwork. I was in a squad and we went through the map, and went to a good spot to set a rallypoint. Teamwork.

When you say stock maps (I know they are in BF2 Vanilla) - Do you mean that they will stay? Daqing Oilfields is a good map, although it is not so much played right now. Just look at the intro for BF2. Daqing Oilfields look nice.

Looking forward to v0.7, altough I dont like very big, open maps that much (like Kashan Desert). We need places to hide, so infantry get a chance. Or it will just become a sniper fest. :P

        Keep up the good work

Part of why so many people dislike Kashan is because of their experiences on that map. If you have good teamwork, then any role you play will be good (even infantry). When you lack teamwork, that's when the grunts don't get proper transportation and nobody wants to leg it across the desert.

Some of the "smaller" maps aren't so bad, but I personally like the larger-scale battles more than the smaller fragfests. There are a few new maps in the works, one of them is quite large yet still centers around infantry combat. It looks like it will be one hell of a MOUT environment, something we really need more of.

Maps like street are not "bad" if you play with limited people, but I always see them on the high-population 64P servers and that's why I hate that map so much.

Large maps also don't have to be "open terrain" maps. Woodland and jungle environments are well-suited for the 4x4 scale, and provide many places for infantry to hide or move under concealment. In those kind of maps, armor is a dangerous place to be, because a HAT could be hiding behind any one of those trees or rocks. Also maps with more terrain obstacles means the pathways for ground vehicles will be more limited, such as roads and trails. That means more places to watch for mines or C4 ambush spots. Imagine Kashan with trees, it would make the entire playstyle of that map change.

Street Fun when on a 16 player server, but i hate it with more than 20 players on it.

Sunset City (very good citymap) It's OK

Assault on Mestia Love it Roadside bombs FTW!!

EJOD Desert (very good map)Are you kidding me?! That is probably one of the worst maps in PR IMO. It might get better since the US will actually have a chance in 0.7 with their AGOG's. Btw, half the map isnt getting used...

Operation Pheonix (very good map) No offence but what are you smoking? That map is so unbalanced that its not even funny. And its a bit small too...

Operation Ghost Train Love it. Lol roadside bombs here aswell Lots of places to hide, great CQC. Its just a great map for infantry.

            7 Gates Great map!

Al Basrah Another great map. Gotta love to fight in the city. Oh and dont forget roadside bombs...

Zatar Wetlands (very fun though - nice tank battles) Yep its fun. Good for infantry aswell as tanks.

            Daqing Oilfields Great map:)

Bi MingI dont like it that much..

Kashan is probably one of the best maps in PR. Its great fun to fly chopters/drive tanks or just be infantly on that map. Espesially when you get someone to drive the dirt bike and your playing HAT. The map is also great for infantry, all you need is a HAT and an AA kit and a Humvee/Vodnik. Or just HAT since its piss easy to shoot down chopters with it. Its also great fun to be in a squad with a comptent chopter duo and just to sit on a mountain spotting stuff for them.

"Enemy armor in B4", "Copy" A little later... "Missile away!" and a BOOM God i love that map

I wish there would be some really big urban maps. Why not have a full sized city map? And maybe some really large jungle maps, like in Crysis. That would make things more interesting than a large bland desert.

they would have to do something like vietnam to get a jungle mapp , i mean wouldnt be nice to have iraqies in the jungle. but im with ya i'd love a jungle mapp.

i thought ejod, phoenix, sunset etc. were fairly large for city mapp, large enough for me anyway

I'm guessing having a full sized city map would be very laggy.

Y'all have to keep in mind that Kashan Desert was largely an experiment to see if a 4km land based map was technically feasible. It was literally a proof of concept that had been scrapped as an actual map project. But late in the stages of v0.6 development, we decided to go ahead and roll into the v0.6 release.

The map itself and getting the game play to work was only one aspect of the challenges relating to introducing 16 sq km of terrain and 1km engagement ranges into the BF franchise. The most significant efforts were around getting the weapon systems to work properly at those ranges. vBF2 was never set up to be played at those ranges. Stuff like projectiles disappearing from the world because nobody at DICE ever thought the projectiles would ride a 1km range trajectory.

We also realised that such a large map would NOT be n00b friendly. Kashan degenerates into extremely boring chaos when you don't play as a team. In other releases of PR and on other maps we were pretty successful at forcing teamwork within a single squad unit. With the introduction of the Commander assets system and the design of Kashan we are trying to force teamwork across multiple squads (facilitated via the Commander role).

In future releases you'll see the lessons learned from Kashan applied to other maps and other settings to try and achieve similar realism and teamplay oriented goals.

streets is awsome dude. i dont think theres no plans to dish it that i've heard.
read the manual , i read it 5 times & it helps everytime.
PR forums are better to find stuff out, this is good forum but some people cry if you mention PR too much, i donnno why.

civi's are fun, just remember they knife you same as arrest so avoid gettin too close, and they can kill you if your climbing ladders or grapplin lines, and they can run you over with vehicles, other than thaat they cant touch you, without penalty of course. you job mainly is to spot the enemy.

biggest leap from bf2 vanilla to PR is learning to go slow (*lest for me anyway) and to not give up, cause some peep on here really good.

remember tanks/apc's zoom, and friendly mines will kill you too.

0.7 is soon to be realeased i reckon it has more maps & more weapons & diff vehicles if i understood right, suppost to be awsome as heck
