I think if you want completely no lag Medium should suit you fine, but I have a 7800GT and I put everything on high except lighting, dynamic shadows, and dynamic lighting.

I've got Anti-Aliasing on 4x and Draw Distance at 100.

Personally, I think it's best that you play a few rounds with different settings here and there and decide where you get the best compromise in terms of detail and FPS.

First do not EVER, EVER install drivers for a major component through Windows Update. Been quite a while since I used XP but this,

was the best driver for me before moving to Vista.

I think it's best that you play a few rounds with different settings here and there and decide where you get the best compromise in terms of detail and FPS.

Also a real good idea to delete the folders in the cache folder (My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache) after making changes or it will get too many in there and start to have a negative affect on performance.

Also what GFX can i use in PR i tried to play on Al Basrah with medium, but it lagged as hell so i have to play on low....

My new PSU should be here on Wednesday. Will see what that does. Also, did anyone notice the 7600GT runs kinda hot? Mine will idle at 60 C. That sounds kinda hot. On the other hand, the fan barely moves when idle, so maybe it's intentional...

Two words, bridge chip. The AGP version of the 7600 is not a native AGP card and uses a bridge chip, which tends to run hot on its own making the whole card on the warm side. For the most part as long as it it is around 80-90°C under load it should be fine.

As Stormy said, GPUs run very hot nowadays. Like he said, as long as the temperature is below 90º or even 100ºC then you should be fine. Although that may have a chance of shortening the video cards life, but I wouldn't worry about that too much at the rate that new video cards are being released.

OK, the new PSU is here and it fixed some of the problems. The slide shows and crashes are gone. I'm trying to run the game on all high settings, with the exception of dynamic lighting set to medium and dynamic shadows to low. AA is set at 2x. I get about 60fps most of the time, but for some reason, when in heavy action, the frame rate drops to below 15fps, which sucks.
