Not exactly. It's a fraction, added EACH time a player gets a point. Supposing there are 16 players on your team, each time a player gets a point, it gives you 1/16 points - 0.0625. Meaning, that when the sum of all points accrued on your team = 16, you will get a point.

The "average" will hold true if the number of players is more or less constant.

Which ends up being same number + - half a point, so lets try to keep it simple: average of the team's points, x2 if you win.

Mathematically, that is wrong, although conveys the main idea to be generally acceptable.
