Playing BF2 with no disk in the drive

Does anyone know how i can play BF2 without a disk in my drive.

I have alcohol 120% and imaged the game but it still won't play and asks for the disk. It's a DVD copy of the game rather than a CD copy which might be the reason why? anyone got any ideas?

The first line of the tutorial covers it, it is a pain in the rear to keep digging the box out and putting the disk away, at least with this tool you can just click on the icon like you can do with CoD:UO/CoD2.

thats why i always have my disc in, or if i take it out ill put it in its case right in friken fronjt of me.

My BF2 disc is already kind of a part of my system.
I never take the disc out anyway lol

i wouldnt recommend it, i read on tweakguides that Punkbuster sometimes detects if you have some type of ***** "crack"

you are still welcome to try, im just saying thats what i read

for me i just take out the DVD after launching the game...all you have to do is use it to get past the splash screen then you can take it out - i do this to protect the DVD, ive had too many scartched already

i havent read the tutorial yet, but im just relaying to you what i read on tweakguides here it is:

Battlefield 2, much like most other modern games, has a copy protection system based on a CD check. While the game also requires that you enter a unique CD key when installing the game, and even though it is actually this CD key which is the key to preventing pirated versions from being able to play online, EA Games still insist on requiring that legitimate BF2 players keep their BF2 CD/DVD in their drives to play the game. I can only say that this is a lame method of protection.



While there are indeed places where you can download a file which allows you to play BF2 without the CD in the drive, I can't provide you with the details of where (due to legal reasons - so don't write and ask me for one). More importantly, even if I were to tell you where to download such a '*****' patch, it would be pointless to use one, since the Punkbuster cheat detection system in BF2 is likely to see this altered ***** executable file as a cheat, booting you and eventually banning you permanently from playing BF2 multiplayer. Therefore I strongly recommend that you do not use any forms of *****s or other cracks, as this will lead to your unique CD key being banned without any recourse.



Note, I am well aware of other methods of playing BF2 without the CD in the drive, but once again I cannot provide details of these due to legal reasons. It is up to you if you really want to research and find such methods. EA is unlikely to release an official patch for BF2 which removes the CD check so you should put up with the inconvenience of having to keep the CD in your drive, and steer clear of any ***** patches/cracks/hacks.

EDIT: are the people on that tutorial where it says "BANNED" on their name actually banned or is that just a unique name thing?

i wouldnt risk it (but thats me - nice and law abiding ^.^) gehehe

i dont find it that hard anymore - its an easy routine...

1. put DVD in

2. click "start BF2"

3. Wait for splash screen to go

4. take out DVD & put back in case

there is nothing illegal about using a virtual disk image, and it works perfectly fine, i've been using a bf2 disk image since I bought the game and have never had PB troubles
