Re: Playing BF2 with no disk in the drive
ah yeah its just that disk imaging has been given a reputation for illegal activity with piracy and all - but if you've had no probs thats good - i may do it.
but doing it your way takes up double the amount of space it would take usually - no?Comment

Re: Playing BF2 with no disk in the drive
Hmm let's see. I'm using a mini-image I made myself and it takes up a grand total of 2.5MB on the hard drive. As far as that goes I have a folder with mini-images for all the games I have installed (9 ATM) and the size of the entire folder is only 150MB.
I also have 3 virtual drives loaded through Alcohol, with 3 images loaded all the time and it only takes a few seconds to change to another if not already loaded. BTW your quote from Tweakguides is all good but,
explains the difference between a mini-image and a ***** crack far better.Comment

Re: Playing BF2 with no disk in the drive
Okay, Anni, you seem to be computer retarded (no offense
)
There is both a cd-crack (Cracked .exe file) and a mini/full size image.
The cd crack (cracked .exe file) DOES get picked up by Punkbuster because the creator has illegally changed the code in the .exe file.
The mini image is completely legal, and is not picked up by Punkbuster. This is because no files have been edited, you are using a legitimate key.
I always have my full size BF2 back up mounted in Alcohol so i don't have to get out my disc each time, potentially scratching it.Comment

i know all about cracks etc. i was just saying about the cracks being affected in game - by all means read the quote i pasted...but i didnt say in my words that imaging was illegal - i said it has a reputation for assocating...blah blah (im sure u can read :P)
oh and: that is surprising and slightly demoralising to hear =( as i am at university studying computer science in the top 4th university for computer science in the country =/Comment

Re: Playing BF2 with no disk in the drive
I'm glad there are ways to beat this. I think it's friggin' crazy to have to keep the CD in the drive. They've got me registered via the CD Key #. What more do they want?
Imagine if Microsoft forced you to perform WGA validation and also keep your main install disc in a drive every time you wanted to use Windows? That's what EA is doing here, and it's just nutso....................
