Re: How can I be a good commander?

Please for the love of God, spot 3 targets then give me a chance to hear the game, for 15 seconds without another volley of spotted messages. If it's under the UAV, you don't need to spot it, we see it.

When on USMC strike at Karkand, try to support the people who aren't stupid and charging the Hotel flag. Give the UAV to the guys who are out getting flags at Suburbs, Square, market, train.... everywhere else but the meat grinder.

uhh.... how do I say this nicely? no **** sherlock.

I thought the UAV was just for looks and I always thought that the people going into the grinder were the ones that used teamwork!!.

Before you guys lynch the commander for his diligent and dutiful spam spotting when there's a UAV over your self-absorbed head, odds are he's spam spotting for another squad across the map because the UAV is in use, not in spite of it.

Since day one, people have been begging DICE for some sort of proximity radius for commander spots, but we've been ignored.

Well you would be surprised how many commanders don't know that and I could have sworn you asked a question....let me think, ahh yes it was

I don't think anyone was lynching, pretty sure we are trying to make a point about too much spotting. You would be surprised how many commanders will put up a UAV and then spot everything under it.

Re: How can I be a good commander?

Well thanks BadLizard, I guess I should be more grateful, my bad.

I didn't add obvious stuff to the list of stuff I do because I thought it was just assumed, but here is some of it.
              1. I DO NOT spam when in commander mode unless it is necessary.
              2. I always ask squads if they want a vehicle drop or supply drop at their position if they finished capping a few flags (not after every flag capture, after 3 or 4)
              3. I do not put vehicle or supply box drops in obvious spots, like the middle of a field and make the squad go to it to use it.
              4. I try my hardest not to do noob stuff, although it is sometimes unavoidable.
              5. I do not yell "STFU YOU 8 YEAR OLD" if a SL answers back and is a kid.
              6. I know the UAV shows the enemys, and I do not need to spot under it.

Spot enemies only once, nobody likes a commander spotting that APC a lot.

                    Prove it.

                    I'm serious.

                    Go ahead, I defy you.

                    ...

That was the point of my calling you (or rather your type) "self-absorbed" : everything coming over the speaker you assume is directed towards you and you alone. If the dot is under the UAV, you have no way of knowing if that is also the "dot" the commander just spotted. :shakehead: And if you try to counter with some outlandish claim that you open the map every 0.5 seconds and commit to memory all the red dots (across the entire map) at every half second interval, then I'll call you a bald-faced liar.

You need to spot it again every once in a while because it stays active on the map for few seconds only.

8 year olds don't belong in bf2 anyway, I believe the game is 13 and above. I can't understand parents buying their kids games that totally don't suit their age, GTA for example.

well ur best bet if u want to work as a commander and a team , quit playing bf2 install project reality play that for a while , become commander and order squads that have VoIP that will do what u say , and that will defend flags.

Well I wouldn't have a problem buying my kid this game.... that is if I had a kid.

Are vehicle drops at squads random positions good or bad? If they are far away from a flag on foot and the SL doesn't have a mic what do I do?

I'm sure the rest of the players would. Apart from the anoying part, you need to be mature enough to make sane decisions while playing, instead TK-ing, not following orders and even kicking and banning if you are admin. That's why there is 13+ on the bf2 box. People younger than that will act like kids while playing because that's what they are. I'm sure you too have been in a position to be kicked by some 10 year old admin over nothing and you were pretty pissed off then.
