Re: The I hate/love Karkand Thread

This can be said for any IO map. I don't understand why people still continue to play 24/7 Karkand servers when there are servers like ROX Inf and WarIsHell with a great IO rotation. Mashtuur City is still the best IO map ever made.

You can play 24/7 Karkand for 10 hours, and not see anything different from any other day, and on top of that, not get any better. But once you start playing new maps, you start thinking differently, and making yourself a much better player.

    3. Files Section
    4. BF2Pro 1.5

    6. Install
    7. Join a public server

I guarantee you will have a lot of fun.

I already have that And play it for 5-6 hours every week. It's noob free rounds where you are constantly getting better.

Not a big fan of Karkand anymore. I avoid it as much as possible and only play when it happens to be in the server rotation.

I used to enjoy the 24/7 Karkand vehicle servers prior to the release of I/O, but even then it was known as the best map to earn points on. Now that I/O is dominate, Karkand has just turned into the main map for gaining points and thus attracts the most n00bs, hackers & padders. I know many good players still play Karkand heavily, but it would just be nice to see some of them expand into other maps more.

SF Warlord is practically the same thing, which I'm just now getting sick of too. :dead:

Karkand has THE best infantry players in the world on it, just like you would join CLU for choppers, you join Karkand I/O for infy.
So, you ask for both sides. You ask for people that don't play 'Karkand i/o' why they don't like it, then you say, "Well just don't play it." You're horrible at making a valid argument, you haven't a real reason as to why you play it all the time.

Even skilled my ***. You're saying the AK-101 is evenly balanced with the M16A2 in BF2. You're saying the SVD is evenly balanced with the M24. You're also saying the RPK is even balanced with the M249. You're saying that the height advantage the USMC has for nade spamming at the start over MEC's lower ground is even balanced. Nothing about that map is evenly balanced.

I can't even start off of that statement. That has got to be the absolute opposite of the reality of Karkand players.

Re: The I hate/love Karkand Thread

Hmmm an interesting, angry, and poor post.

              And a hilarious reply (Vlade).

I asked for valid arguements on why people don't like I/O.

I get "I like vehicles". No **** Sherlock, but what about the gameplay and aspects of I/O.

When did I say even skilled? Oh wait, I didn't. I said no external skill multipliers. You can't handle SVD with an M24... someone can't sniper. Can't handle an AK-101 with an M16A2. Learn to use burst guns. Ever heard of the PKM? So, even if some MEC guns are better than others they are canceled out by another aspect of your post: USMC has height advantage. So, ehm, you just proved yourself that it is even.

And, for Christ's sake. Don't try to tell me that it is more unbalanced than a J-10 vs F35-B or a Mi-28 raping with the chain gun. And the gun inbalances (however slight) exist in vehicle mode too.

I can't think of valid reasons to play I/O Karkand.... What were these?

              1. Nadespam and clayspam drop significantly on 32 and 16 player maps and on 64 maps with FF=ON.

              2. No jets, choppers, or tanks to rape you. You are the top tier of player type (infy) for once.

              3. Far less team-killers. You can't TK for jets and force TK and all that gay **** when there are no vehicles to TK for.

              4. Baserape drops to a relative zilch. Unlike in vehicle mode where 1 or 2 superior pilots can rape the other team's uncap/main to the point where it is instand death to spawn, in infantry one team has to be VASTLY superior to the other to gain such a large advantage.

              5. Nothing better for CQC. Turning the corner of an alley and relying on reflexes/brains/ and yes "evasive manuveurs" to survive is delicious.

              6. A good squad with a competent squad leader can penetrate the folds of noobs and bring down an entire enemy team with teamwork (yes, I find many more VOIP/teamwork squads on Karkand than on air maps).

              7. Easy access to battle. Non-stop action, crazy even by BF2 standards.

              8. Easy points. I don't play it for points and many people (contary to popular belief) don't. However it is a nice side benefit.

              9. Did I mention J-10s or Mi-28s yet? Well, consider them mentioned.

              10. No skill multipliers except for experience. No equations like Jet Strengths + Easy Rape Bases + Experience. It is just experience = (s)kills.

So sit down, take a chill pill, and come back after a nice break.

Re: The I hate/love Karkand Thread

The best players, play on Warlord and Ghost Town.

                        Karkand is a non-factor for non-grenade whores.

No they don't. With a far smaller map, there are even less routes to take to avoid the grenade spam, so you're more likely to be killed by a grenade than you would on a 64 player map.

Unless you mean, on a 32 playered map, with 32 players, there is less grenade spam... I'd have to say. Duh? Less players means less grenade spam? No kidding!

                        2. No jets, choppers, or tanks to rape you. You are the top tier of player type (infy) for once.

Didn't they make Infantry Only already? Yet people still play Karkand?

                        3. Far less team-killers. You can't TK for jets and force TK and all that gay **** when there are no vehicles to TK for.

Unless of course somebody is dumb enough to run into the corridor you just threw your grenade in. Oops. Punished again.

                        4. Baserape drops to a relative zilch. Unlike in vehicle mode where 1 or 2 superior pilots can rape the other team's uncap/main to the point where it is instand death to spawn, in infantry one team has to be VASTLY superior to the other to gain such a large advantage.

The hotel sprawl is in itself nothing but baseraping. The MEC camps the USMC uncappable for kills.

                        5. Nothing better for CQC. Turning the corner of an alley and relying on reflexes/brains/ and yes "evasive manuveurs" to survive is delicious.

Ghost Town has more corridors with better cover. Mashtuur despite being more open is more uneven with hills and ledges making more hill-side or ledge cover. Karkand is a copy and paste job with little actual cover. Theres a whopping two boxes in the corridors by the hotel. Everywhere else is almost the exact same.

                        6. A good squad with a competent squad leader can penetrate the folds of noobs and bring down an entire enemy team with teamwork (yes, I find many more VOIP/teamwork squads on Karkand than on air maps).

This reason is purely speculation, and isn't worth arguing about.

                        7. Easy access to battle. Non-stop action, crazy even by BF2 standards.

All of the City Maps provide the same non-stop action. The Special Forces city maps provide even more non-stop action.

                        8. Easy points. I don't play it for points and many people (contary to popular belief) don't. However it is a nice side benefit.

[b]That is the ONLY viable reason you've come up with so far. Grenade and Claymore spam on Karkand is the fastest way to the Top #10 leaderboard.
The reason Karkand is grenade-central is because it's such a linear map, unlike every other map in the game which offers dozens upon dozens of routes to avoid the slaughter-house, while Karkand offers only three. Up the left hill. Off the far right ledge, or directly towards the hotel of no return. Even Jalalabad offers more choice than that!

The reason Karkand is widely considered the best map out there, is because it's the most popular one amongst stat-whores. The stat-whores advocate Karkand as the best map, therefore the newer players got into the action and play nothing but Karkand. Afterall, if the top #10 all advocate Karkand, then you have to be a sheep too! With both the stat whores, and the newbies playing nothing but Karkand, more and more server owners are forced to fold their hand and make their servers 24/7 Karkand servers also!

Karkand is popular because it's popular. Not because it's special.

                        Kind of like Paris Hilton.

Karkand is OK but as others have said, its too linear. If FF is off, it's ridiculous with the clay spamming. I definitely prefer SF maps to Vanilla and like Ghost Town but I'd have to give the best Infantry map nod to Mashtuur City. Maps that have no uncaps for either team tend to be more dynamic. I'd like Ghost Town 64p better if DICE would've put jet skis in there instead of the RIBs which are nothing more than AT rocket fodder.

Re: The I hate/love Karkand Thread

I was just playing IMA city maps. Won Karkand as USMC without a problem. Went halfway to Suburb turned right, took square. Descended to the island area, had half the squad go to Train, I took the other half to Cement. Capped everything out except for Factory within 20 minutes. We proceeded to drain their tickets and destroy them.

I love playing Sharqi, Mashtuur, Jala, Karkand rotations (IMA).

I squadlead, my squad owns all. We went 8-0 in rounds just over the past couple of hours. It doesn't take much effort to turn I/O Karkand (or any other city map) into an easy rolling platform for squadwork. If you don't put the effort in and capture flags, learn how to bypass the main routes on Karkand, where to avoid nades and clays, what strategies to use when capturing the flags.... then Karkand might seem like a noobfest.

However, if you turn you mind to not joining the noobfest it easily becomes a superb infantry combat map.

Ghost Town and Warlord are fine in my book, I just don't like the guns and the textures/terrain. Warlord is a clayspam fest and Ghost Town is a little big for my taste (too easy for the Spetz to pin the US down).

Sharqi is often poor on I/O because USMC hops down and rapes the MEC main. It can be fun though- so I will play it in rotation.

Mashtuur is good for sniping, but very large and there is more long range combat than CQC.

Jalabad is another great map where a smart squad can rip the enemy apart. Once the fighting gets into the city it is a phenomal map. However the nade/snipe fest at the beginning is anything but fun.

But, overall I just prefer Karkand. Playing it in a bundle with the other 3 top vannila city maps is great, but I always look forward to those two rounds of Karkand the most.

                                Cheers
