VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 4

All of the above settings can be adjusted from within the in-game Video settings. However the highest they can be set to is High from within the game (a value of 3). By setting them each to 4 in Video.con (as shown above), you will have them displayed as 'Videosettings_Ultrahigh' in the in-game Video settings screen, and some people believe this increases the graphics quality to Ultrahigh levels. I didn't see any impact from this change, but if you want the absolute best quality in BF2 give it a try.

In the registry, specifically the key:

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ELECTRONIC ARTS\EA GAMES\BATTLEFIELD 2\

Make a new REG_DWORD value called:

EnableUltraHighGraphicsCapability0x1FDC2A42

Set the value of this key to 0x0 for standard, 0x1 for high, 0x2 for ultra high.


Anyway, who wants to buy some land on the moon?

does this still work? every time i try changing my con file to all 4's it simply resets them to 3 when i load up the game. i was under the impression they removed the ability while back, will the reg trick bypass that?

Open up My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\General.con and add the following line:

GeneralSettings.EnableWarpTransponder 1
GeneralSettings.WarpFactor 5

And you'll be good to go.

I tried adding a value 2 (shows as 0x0000002) there but it didn't work. I also changed the name to 0x2, and changed the .con lines to 4 but it just reseted back to high. And there wasnt Ultra High on the video options either.

make the file read only.

also, in the audio.con you can add:

renderer.drawFps 1
game.lockFps 500

and make that read only as well.

It doesn't help if you make it read only.. VIDEOSETTINGS_UltraHigh doesn't appear in the video settings.

Well I took some screenshots in BF2 1.0, and there is a difference in them, look at the building in the back for example:

yeah there is no ultra high and there never was. as u can see in leopardi's pix, theyre hte same and ppl who noticed any difference was just experience placebo

its just how BF2 con files work with numbers/values
0 = off
1 = low
2 = med
3 = high
4 = ultra high (only used for sound settings)

and yes u used to be able to set things to 4 (Ultra high) and ucould also set everything to 0 (off) but it still doesnt exist.

ye, cause then bf2 can't edit the "modified" file.

Which allows you to save time by not typing in "renderer.drawFps 1" and "game.lockfps 500" every time you start bf2....
