Crash on Start-up.

Okay, BF2 has recently started crashing to desktop before anything has started loading. I double-click on the shortcut, the splash-screen (BF2 picture/logo) comes up and then the screen goes black and returns to desktop.

I tried running BF2 in windowed mode and got this error message:

Please note: Battlefield is currently un-patched. But I don't think running 1.41 will make a difference. This error began when BF2 was patched to v1.41, so I've reinstalled but haven't yet repatched.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon 9600 XT with 128 MB RAM
RAM: 2GB PC3200 (1x1024GB, 1x512MB, 2x256MB)
HDD: 160 GB @ 7200 RPM
OS: Windows XP Home Edition

Has this got got something to do with resolution or refresh rate?
Would repatching help?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

don't know if patching helps... but I would complete uninstall the game, then check if my graphic drivers are update, reinstall BF2 + patch 1.41

Patch it to 1.41, delete video.con, if that fails, change the line to 800x600@60Hz.

Fixed it by deleting video.con in all my account profiles.

Strange, anyone know what caused this all to happen? I hadn't changed any settings...

Yes, DICE tried to program in Swedish and this was the result.
