BF2 Hardware lag with every new round

huh, I get the "beginning lag"
    - every time a new map loaded my harddisk goes crazy and I'm forced to wait at least a minute before i can really get into the fight.
It's not a connection problem and it began a few weeks ago. Before, BF2 was running OK.

It seems that my PC is reading the HD when a new map was loaded.
I checked in the task manager but there is no extra application running except the usuals.
I guess my PC is working on BF2 when this lag happens but I have no idea what it is doing and why.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi..,

It's BF dumping a LOT of memory into your pagefile..(someone correct me if i'm wrong)..
Also i think punkbuster is checking the files on your harddisk...
Don't know how to stop this though there is a tweakguide @ BFlag.com to adjust the number of PB checks.

My machine had the specs to run BF perfectly, but it didn't. :wall:

    So i bought some hardware..

    - more memory > Minimize or disabling pagefile reduces lagg and faster have
    loading times..
    - X-Fi soundcard > "Beginning lagg" gone..
    - Raptor harddisk > Much faster loading times.. :p

All my lagg is practicly gone, every once in a while i get a few stutters..

But anyways, this was my way to get rid of the damn lagg...

      Is your HDD near full?

its pretty normal...how much ram do u have? defragging can also help a tiny bit. if u have enuff ram, u can try Disabling Paging Executive

          Thanks for the answers.

Wll my system spec is very bad:
          AthlonXP 2000+
          1GB RAM
          GeForce 6600 256MB
          two EIDE HDD with 80GB

both HDD still have some potential
I just ordered some improvement. A new mainboard (ASRock 4CoreDual SATA2) and a matching
          Intel P4 D925 (DualCore 3GHz)
On the Board I can still use my DDR1 RAM and my AGP Graphic.
I don't have the money for a better improvement.

          Defraggin' the HD didn't work.
I just tried with the tweaking the pb scans again (I did that a while ago) and I think it helped a bit.
I'll try again - to see if it has gotten better.

Well apparently it worked reducing the no of pb scans.
But I still haven't played that much since I changed it.
But the rounds I played ran smoother than before, specially at the beginning.

Set the pagefile to addess the secondary drive, not the main/boot/game drive.
Are you using Vista or XP? Its actually pretty easy to change it in either.

EDIT: The game will unload faster, too.

Go to start->control panel->system->advanced settings (under performance/virtual memory options). Advanced tab->change (under virtual memory)->choose other drive (probably D:), click set, then ok. Reboot. Need more help with it, just ask.
