Looks like ill just have to stick to Vent while in game, but that only lets me speak to a mate or two
Like Scinto says "vista" is that you OS? if so thats probably all it is. if your running XP have u checked to make sure you mic & stuff ....well krap u said u use ventrillo so has to work & volume must be ok or vent wouldnt work either.

im betting then ur runnin vista.

i look at vista like the spring watermellons you get in the store "dont buy outta the first 2 crates" those are leftovers from last yr. or been froze, they allways krappie here anyway, we wait for the 3rd or 4th crate before we even consider gettin one.

      besta luck

      over :salute:

BTW if your VOIP wont work , thats why you cant hear them talking that is working.

Ok, lettme get this right, u run XP, u went to DXDIAG & to sound & put your acceleration on basic? after that u went into the options did u go to audio & uncheck the mic boost? & uncheck the enable eax?

ok if u done all that u went into ur bf folder start/programs/ea games/bf2/ & found voice setup & went thru the motions there? did u hear yourself there if u did that? & did the bar move green or red? or move at all? & u hit save or ok i cant rmemerber & went in game & no green icon & cant hear anyone??

lettme know if u done all that plz. kinda odd we have same problem & mine was fixed by this.

but then again computers suck when there broke, & the greatest when working, kinda like a woman:nod:

Ye, ive lowered my sound acceleration in DXDIAG.
Whats strange is i went into the BF2 options, unchecked the 'enable eax' box, but i couldn't check or uncheck the mic boost box, it was faded and couldnt be clicked
Ive been to my BF2 folder and ran the 'BF2VoiceSetup' When i speak or read the passage like it says, nothing happens with the bar in the middle - its like my mic isnt plugged in, but what else is weird is that everytime i click Save Settings it says BF2VoiceSetup encountered a problem and has to close blah blah :/

I thought that this was weird and i uninstalled and reinstalled BF2 this morning, but still - even after a complete uninstall and reinstall it does the same :S

I have absolutely no idea why it doesn't work :shakehead:

Ok, u do have XP, and you can use your mic everywhere else like ventrillo, lettme ask, what sound card do you have, have u updated the driver? can u put a screenshot of you audio options, well try this, does it say "software, or Hardware, with the mic boost greyyed out kinda thinkin that either the card needs updated , or maybe conflictin with bf2, i know some sound blaster cards just dont workie with bf2. mine didn't i had to go back to my old one.

but leeme know if u updated ur sound card driver, & what it is, it just might be ur prob. maybe not.

My sound card is an onboard one, not too sure on the model/name as im not too sure how to find out, in options it just says SounMax usually. As for the updates im not sure - ive only installed the SoundMax Control panel thing which i got with my computer on disc. Ive looked for updates, but every download i find its the same version as the one i have now.

When you say Audio options, do you mean my volume control panel thing?

                  Heres some screens anyways:

                  Volume control panel thing:

this has to be somehting simple, i have soundmax & mine's working, ok, try this, make sure you have the latest directx version, u can tpe the DXDIAG in run & see there if it matches this page, if not download
download, software, update, Microsoft, product, computer, PC, Windows, Office, server, MSN, Live, game, Xbox, security, driver, install, trial, preview, demo, popular

while ur lookin make sure your acceleration is still on basic.

ok in your control panel click on sounds and audio devices then click the audio tab, make sure those 2 top drop down boxes have "Sound max" in there, if not hit 'em

then hit the voice tab, make sure those both have soundmax in there, if not hit 'em , of course make sure you hit apply, then in teh voice tab hit the "test hardware"" follow that , then if it sound good go & do the sound setup agani in bf2 & try it, it should work.

BTW screenshots look good, the "english vo" is nice to check, unless u know chinese, it will take that chinese away & you can hear english in the game.

if that dont work i wouldnt have a clue, only thing i could think of is make sure of the above & write EA support , they probably got alot of these questions & might can help, actually thats how i fixed mine, somebody else wrote EA support & guy told them to "put basiic acceleration" & it worked for him & if he haddn wrote i'd still be without. but i dont understand if all that works out (above) & your direct x is up to date, & acceleration is on basic, why it wouldnt work.

sure hopin the best for ya.

                      Again, thanks for your help.

My directX is up to date, i even downloaded it again just incase.
Everything in my sounds etc is set to SoundMax (as thats the only option in the drop down menus)
But... It still wont work , I really am stumpted at this one if yours is working fine.
The thing im finding most weird is that when i try the VoiceSetup in the BF2 folder, it comes up saying that it encountered a problem :/ i have a feeling thats part of the problem and maybe something is conflicting with the program.

I am going to try one more final installation of BF2 and see what that does.
Thanks for your help anyways salute:

DXDIAG does not give you the tab to set acceleration to BASIC in Vista.

If it does...please post a screenshot as to where this setting is found.

All fixes so far only relate to xp.

Please, HAS ANYBODY GOT THIS WORKING IN VISTA?

I have very little faith in ea, especially since they edit their own wikipedia entry to make themselves look good. A bit off OT.
