    Any suggestions???
I'd try the 162.22's they are WHQL and appear to run pretty good. And just cause Nvidia says the PSU is enough doesn't mean that its either a Really good enough or B is working properly at all. Check the thing with a meter and make sure your getting the proper amount of amps to it.

Otherwise you might even try a complete reload of the system from scratch.

But even in xp I dont get the most ideal fps. People with 7600gt are playing at all high whereas I cant even play on high with sli. My specs are in my signature.

          I fixed mine :)

          FRAPS benchmark for 1000 seconds:

This was taken on a 32 player Sharqi server, with all high (lighting and dynamic lighting settings off/low), 1920x1440, 2xAA, 16xAF. There were actually TWO cheaters on the server, both spamming cars like nutters (*cough*and they crashed the server, as usual, *cough*).

I just switched to the 158.22 drivers (Win XP), using driver cleaner to remove the later 162.x crap. There might still be a problem, I have to double check. Either way, it's all smooth on Sharqi.

did you test the things I said in the last post?

I am only using one card. BTW, I reinstalled xp, formatted hd everything and used Alienware Respawn CD to bring my comp. back to factory settings. Its ok but not as much as it could be. I looked at your graph and that is insane. What kinda rig do you got?

It is also possible that no too much action was going on. Am i right?

Re: Battlefield 2 lag in Vista

I did say 2 h4x0rs were spamming cars. Everytime I looked towards/away from one of the car spam points, my FPS would die. 75fps was the lowest I got "legitimately" there. I think it drops further. It was 32 player on a 64 map (Sharqi), so that has something to do with it. With 32 players it's fine, with 64 players I drop to 70fps (still fine). So it's either CPU or RAM. Or that BF2 renders EVERYTHING, which I don't think it does. I think the benchmark is ********, I was looking directly at the zillion cars on the ground and FPS just died. Purely died. Definitely not 70.

The problem I've found so far is to do with lighting, anti-aliasing and grass rendering. When grass renders correctly as seen on ATI cards, it's perfect performance. This ONLY happens with anti-aliasing off. When lighting is set to low, I also get amazing performance (and it looks nasty, though no shadows + load time decreased is pretty good). Combining those and BF2 runs as it should. I have no idea what's up, it's a problem specific to BF2. I just tested FEAR Combat, on the highest of settings with 2xAA, and I got 30fps outdoors and 150fps indoors. If I looked towards an indoor area and was close enough, it would jump above 100fps, if I looked towards outdoors (and close enough to an outdoor region), fps would die. Turned off anti-aliasing and *shazzam*, 150fps all round. 5 minutes into the game, it came back again, but instead of 30fps, I dropped to 70/50fps. The game still felt choppy as hell so I suspect even less.

The driver downgrade didn't seem to have done anything, placebo effect I guess

I also hopped on an SF Surge (the one with a giant rocket) server and got 100fps all round. Lighting on low, I think.

I could almost switch back to the 7600.

Edit: I'm not the only one with the problem with grass.

Re: Battlefield 2 lag in Vista

Yeah I know what are you saying. The grass thing happens to me all the time in Gulf of Oman. When I look to right or left it straightens out but when I look at it heads on it gets all messed up.

I play Counter Strike Source all the time and I never have to worry about the fps because I never lag, so no complaints.

In this game however, it is different. You are still cranking out more than I could EVER had. Your minimum is like 75 fps and that is not bad at all. If I get to run my fps like yours I'll be in heaven. Tell, what special are you doing???? What kinda drivers you using camperstrike???

Thx for the benchmarks for comparison.

Re: Battlefield 2 lag in Vista

I'm having a similar problem in Vista. Just built a new computer. I tried Battlefield 2. I have everything maxed out and get 100 FPS according to the in-game console. It seems to run fine in single player, but once I join multiplayer, I get the usual beginning game stuttering I got with my old computer, but now the stuttering keeps reappearing randomly during the game. When I watch the my FPS I can see it go alternating between 100 and 83 FPS.

I'm narrowing the problem down, slowly. It is a combination of the grass problem, anti-aliasing, and anisotropic filtering. I set AF to 16x by the control panel all this time, and I would get below 38fps on the carrier if I looked a certain way. ALT+TAB out, and set it to application controlled (in-game is at 4x), and it goes to 120fps.

As for the minimum fps, that's with lighting off. It was practically unplayable with lighting on all high. I even managed to load up Al Basrah today without getting 1fps

Thats funky. I have application controlled for both aa and af in nv cp. What is your texture filtering at?

In that benchmark they get insane framerates. Texture filtering is at 4x in-game now. I think it's CPU limitation TBH.

I am pretty sure these benchmarks are not right. They probably screwed up.

components that are unrecognized, aka without drivers, will slow down a system.
